Spektrum DX6i - Using with many Quads?

In the DX6i you can define a number of model memories. I found that in copying an existing memory to another that the one copied to does not bind with the receiver.  I';m guessing that I need to bind each configured memory/model indivually.

So that gets me to thinking that if I have several quads, each with its own Receiver, that I can bind to each and then select them via the stored model in the DX6i.

Hopefully I';m explaining this right.  Am I correct in thinking this is exactly what happens and how to use the DX6i across several RC vehicles?

As far as I know the model memory is just relate to things like trim and mixes. The binding is dealt with seperately and has nothing to do with model memory. For example you could bind with 3 different models but use the same model memory for them all if you desired.

I currently use my dx6i with a model memory called quad 450 and fly 2 different quads on that memory.

Ah, so perhaps I';m trying to be to clever about this

So what you';re saying is that you bind with as many devices and the TX remembers the bindings. It will pick up whichever RX is turned on at the time.

I';m assuming it will only "attach" with a single RX at a time.

That leaves me wondering why the "copied to" memory wouldn';t pick up the same RX (I only had one at the time).  As soon as i switched back to the original model memory the RX and TX synch';d up.

Thanks for that.

Not with the tx9.

I use mine with 3 different quads each with own settings.

It will only bind with the quad if the correct model is selected.

Which is a nice safety feature

You are really better off binding each rx to a separate tx slot, it';s just good practice - the only reason I can think of that might make me want to do that is if I was short of memory slots.
I don';t know how you can bind 2 different rx';s to the same memory slot unless you bind every time you want to use that particular model, it should only bind to one rx!

Hands0n

@DarrellW - I think that is what I mean.  So I copied the 450 to another memory slot, but when I try to use that "new" slot it isn';t bound to the RX. So if i get you what you mean, then my thinking is that for each memory slot I need to bind to the RX of that particular craft.

In my case, I';ve been swapping out FCs on the same vehicle, certain aspects of the config of the TX needs to be changed. So rather than keep mucking around with the working 450 I wanted to make clones of it and adapt them to each FC that I fit to the aircraft.

Thanks everyone, I think I';ve got it now.  I';ll try it out tomorrow.
