Accucel 6 knocks out my Homeplug network

Had a strange issue with my Apple TV2 last night where it would take an age to buffer media coming from one of my Macs on the home network then it went away.

This afternoon the same issue cropped up again.  After spending an age troubleshooting I finally tracked it down to my Accucel 6 charger.  When it';s ON it creates enough noise that if reduces the speed of my home plugs to a crawl!

I thought it might be the 5A PSU that powers it but everything is fine when just that is plugged in. The issue only occurs when the Accucel is connected. So either it';s the Accucel or it';s the PSU but only when it';s powering the Accucel. Happens regardless of whether a battery is connected or not.

Weird eh!

I have no issues when using mine, that I or anyone in the house has noticed.

Have you tried running another load on the PSU at the same amps that the charger draws to rules that out?

The PSU is a laptop type 12v 5A charger rather than a bench type. The only thing I have that I could connect to it is  the lead acid battery pack that drives my telescope. That takes a 12v input for charging.

Thanks for that, it is the PSU and not the Accucel. And if it';s that noisy then it also means it';s not to be trusted!

Guess I';ll need to shop for a better PSU. Any pointers for a decent quality one?

I made mine from a PC power supply. Dead easy and cost about £12 ~~

Epic, now I';ve finished building the quad I need a new project. And I think I';ve still got an old PC in the loft too. Cheers.

No worries. I say mine cost £12 because I bought a brand new PSU and binding posts etc. If you already have a PSU then it should only set you back a few quid ~~
