I have a 35 Mhz 6 Channel radio, if I have to use it when I require extra channels for GPS would this slightly older radio be ok to use these days.

I don';t think you';d find anyone recommending a 35mhz system these days.  Too much risk of interference (unless flying at a club with a peg-board system).  Also, the rx antenna on a multi could be difficult to route without it getting tangled in the props :)

As far as channels goes, 6 should be enough, so something like a Dx6i for example as a cheap 2.4ghz radio system would be great.

Hi Balders, I';m not too worried about the length of the antenna, I';m sure I could route it along legs etc to use most of it up :)

The reason I like the Futaba is that there is much less configuration and channel mixing and it has a rotary switch that could be replaced with a rotary switch to set various command states.

I suppose its a big gamble using 35Mhz when you think of the cost and time involved in building a quad. I have a wee scanner somewhere so I must dig that out and see if I can hear any activity.

My main concern was that the motors may generate interference or the F\C I';ve heard some funny noises generated my electronic gear :).

Thanks for your input mate, I would like to use this gear but more digging I think before I commit.
