I have been using my imax b6 with 5a power pack for charging 1 cell and 3 cell (3000mah) batteries without any problems,
tonight I tried to charge some new 4 cell (3000mah) batteries but the charger keeps saying error and stops the charge.

Any ideas why this is???

What charge current are you using, sounds like you are trying to pull more than the psu can supply.

lower the charge amp, you pass the input amp max and the voltage drop...
happen to my on  6 cell ,need better power supply :P

Balders

I have a B6 and charge my 4S packs on it.  Max amps you can push through is about 3.5  Try setting the charge rate to that.

I can only get a charge rate of 2.5 amps to work on the 4s batts. do I need a bigger power supply?? I would of thought a 5amp supply would of done the trick.

Also, one of the new batts says connection error  when I try to charge it, but it powers up the quad ok. any idea what that could be????

It';s the Watts the charge can charge. I think the IMAX is only 40-50watt. Volts X Amps = Watts  ~~

Flyinegypt

Yes, the standard Imax B6 is rated for 50 watts max output. I have the uprated B6AC 80W version which has an 80 watt max output. However, I have to supplement it with an external fan to keep it cool when charging a 3S 4500 pack at 1C.
