You guys are going to be fed up with my daft questions and ideas  :wack0

This is in relation to an IFLY prop, but I suppose all electric motor props will have one round hole and one with the driving flats cast into it.

When I was balancing a prop today I wondered why it wasn';t spinning square to the mandrel, it wobbled blades slightly out of alignment, I don';t know if it would make much difference to balance but it may be not centring the prop very well.

I turned one of the cone nuts round the other way, but its important to be the one that was in the hole with the locking flats, that are the bottom side  of the prop. Now the cone sits in the round hole of the prop and the flat side of the other cone nut squares the bottom of the prop at 90 Deg to the mandrel of the balancer, picture to illustrate.

Nice idea. Ill give it a try
Thanks

As far as I know, only DJI and now iFly use keyed prop/motors. But top tip for balancing props that have keyed holes.

Thanks Daren, I did think it strange that no one had mentioned it, so far as I could see, as I say it may not make a lot of difference, but if one blade is closer to the centre of the pivot point because its squint, it must have a negative effect on balance accuracy.
