hi guys, im craig, have introduced myself in the ';welcome to the forum'; section!Live up near sunny Aberdeen!

i am a keen photographer and planning to build a AP setup ...but in the meantime i have built myself a little f550 for something to play with and experiment with while doing so!

spec as follows

RCT F550 clone PCB centre and arms (4 black, 2 white)
APM2.5 with GPS
30 AMP OPTO ESC';s
1000Kv RCT motors (nsk bearings)
9" RCT Carbon fibre props
DSM2 Reciever
200mw video Tx
minim osd module
Circular Polarised Antenna set (skew planner & cloverleaf 5.8ghz)
Go Pro 3 video cable
7" Lcd Fpv monitor mounted to 9x
Turnigy 9x
ardupilot battery monitor system
AeroXcraft landing gear with home made go pro 3 mount ( chopping board and cable ties at the min haha)

currently running Turnigy 3s 4000mah Lipo';s - feel free to comment or advise if you think anything isnt right in my setup and/or if you have any advice on batteries etc , any comments appreciated!

the hex flies really well...apm2.5 is really impressive in all modes and the photos/videos so far i am really happy with my home made mount = no jello but was thrown together in 10 mins for trial purposes only so ill need to make a tidy version!

i will upload pics but im offshore at the min and wont be home for another 3 weeks!

cheers for reading and sorry for the HUGE post!

Craig

oh and the go pro 3 for fpv is a temp situation as im waiting on fatsharks coming and im still unsure the best fpv camera to use, so any suggestions welcome, not worried about price!thanks

Hi Craig, welcome along to the forum.

Sounds like you have a really solid platform to start with...the kind of kit a lot of folks on here would aspire too, so really good to have you on here.

There';s a few chaps north of the border on here, and I believe there is an FPV/multi meet up that way every now and then.  (I don';t keep close tabs on that as I couldn';t live much further away haha).

sorry for the delay! ended up being offshore for 6 weeks....home at last!

as promised, photos of my current set-up!

front two arms painted in hight viz neon paint, leds fitted again to aid night flying

now have fatsharks and sony fpv camera as well as brushless gimbal, probably missed out some other bits and bobs but ill keep you updated....my other build has started but ill start a new post in due course

excuse the messy wiring in the snaps! its al tidy now and flying perfectly!oh..and the wood between the landing gear was just a temp camera mount for vertical shots of some land....they are off now haha

in my long trip offshore i finally got around to making some edits with my aerial footage, very new to final cut pro and macbook pro....slowly getting there...heres a link to my latest edit, please comment and follow me if its of interest to you...remember and set to 720p HD or it will be poor quality! thanks

great edit man, and nice flying ~~ if i HAD to criticize anything it would be the wonky horizon;)
If YOU can fly it, I CAN crash it.
