Thought I would range test my 5.8ghz 600mW fpv setup on my t copter, to see how far it would go before the image starts to brake up. Im also using cloverleaf antennas.
So I went to a big open field. Found a nice path to follow. Flew about 6 foot off the ground. Got about 170 meters away with a good solid signal on my monitor then the t copter fell out of the sky. I tested this again and it fell out of the sky at about the same distance. The 5.8ghz vtx out did the 2.4ghz radio.
Im using a Turnigy 9x with an orange DSM2 module.
I thought I would get more than 170 m with it.  Is this normal?

Balders

Sounds very suspect to me.  Could it be in range-test mode? I would check antenna connections in both Tx and rx as well.  I thought those setups were good for at least 1km.

I was flying very low. And I was sat down. Ive ordered the frsky with telemetry so hopefully this will be much better.
