MegapirateNG and Mission Planner Quad Shaking Violently

I have a DJI frame with the Crius AIOP fc and the latest version of MegaPirateNG and Mission Planner  that I have just started trying to tune.  The quad shakes violently when holding it per Dave C';s tuning sheet.  This shaking is worse than anything encountered with MultiWii.  Any help or ideas will be appreciated.  Trying to tune using the acro mode.  One site says tune in Stable mode and another says do it in Acro mode.  I don';t know which is better.

Gaza07

Tune Acro first try lowering the RateP this used to cause some bad wobbles / shakes

I have Rate P at 0.0010 and still have shakes but not as violent.  What next?

Gaza07

I haven';t seen one need to go that low before maybe try lowering the stabilise P

What is your rateD set to ? ... I found that having this higher meant more violent oscillilations

N7KI

thanks for the help.  i have managed to quit the shaking to stop with the pids.  I have to still work on quadcopter reactions to stick movement.  It still has a small amount of shake.  Is there any way to get the motors to turn on before half throttle?
Attached is a pic of my tune so far.  Will work on Stabilize tune after getting acro figured out.

did you do an esc calibration and radio calibration  before you started changing PIDs
if your motors are not in calibration then it will be all over the place
you should have motor start just after slight movement up of throttle stick

I did the four up esc calibration and the radio calibration before I started all this.  Do I have to do the calibrations every time i change the firmware?  Should I do the esc calibration again doing it individually on the esc';s?
Esc';s have been flashed with the SimonK firmware.  I there any way to check if the radio needs calibration.
Thanks.

in mission planner there is a tab for radio calibration which must be done
and you can also do a all esc calibration as well after radio calibration

turn on radio put throttle to full
connect battery to quad (props removed of course) they leds will slowly flash
unconnect battery
reconnect battery leds will flash fast
wait for tones and after the beep pull throttle down
to check the throttle will now start motors
disconnect battery and all done

it should fly with the stock pids albeit not perfect

Just did radio cal and esc cal.  Motors still come on at half throttle.  Anybody have any ideas of what is causing this?  Also the motors do not come on at the same time.  I didn';t have this problem in Multiwii.
Thanks.

N7KI

Finally reread instructions to calibrate esc';s and must have missed the part that you have to do quickly.  Once i did it in the correct sequence and quickly the motors come on with just a little throttle.  Part of the problem on my end is that the esc/motor combo does not beep so you don';t know when to change states for the proper procedure.
Thanks to all.

firey1

sorry my fault
yes esc tones are different after they have been flashed
my HK F30s used to have 4 beeps for throttle
now after flashing 1 quick quiet beep

Now that the ESCs are calibrated I would set PIDs back to stock and see how it goes now as keeping the PIDs at the present low you will be chasing it all over

The esc/motor combo doesn';t produce any kind of audible beep.  I did go back and re-tune using the channel 6 method on Rate P and D.  Numbers are definitely more in the normal range.
Again thanks to all who contributed to help me solve my problem.
