Hey guys.

I soldered new plugs for the alarm on my kk2 board last night and plugged it all in.

I checked that my plugs were the right way round but I didnt check that the cables were correct. ( I assumed that they would be as the cables were new and came connected to the plugs already. )

I plugged the battery in to check all was working and a loud crackle and huge puff of smoke came from the kk2 board.

I checked the board and wires for damage but couldnt see any so re-did the wires and plugs and tried again.

All seems to work ok and I took if for a low flight to test it. I was wondering whether anyone else had done similar and if it is safe to fly now.

I have just bought a gopro and dont want to take it up with the kk2 if it may stop working mid flight due to the possible damage I have done by wiring it up wrong.

I guess the moral of the story is always check wires properly and dont assume that just because its new that its right.

If it were my Quad or Gopro, I would just get another KK2.0 board, given the cost of the thing.

Not worth risking the rest of your equipment given how affordable the KK2.0 is.

Yeah I suppose I should change the kk2.

Will do it tonight if I get time and hopefully I wont mess it up again.

nub

yup as bigbelly says not worth risking your other gear for such a cheap component, best off replacing it.
Point and click.

Hey guys.
I soldered new plugs for the alarm on my kk2 board last night and plugged it all in.

Are these the two wires that the beeper that comes with the KK V2.0 LCD board is atached to as i am not sure which way they are connected to the KK V2.0 board but at a guess i think the black wire goes to the left and the red wire goes on the right but i am not sure if either nothing will beep or it could blow the board.  :frantic:

Its the 2 wires soldered under the board to power it. Not the wires with the alarm on.

Hello paul82

I know which you are talking about now but the connectors i was think about i am not sure which way the buzzer connector goes on the two pins on the top of the KK V2.0 but i think the black wire goes to the left and the red wire goes to the right looking down on the board.

Hey dave. I plug mine in with the red on the right.  I dont think it matters tho as ive plugged it in the wrong way before and it still worked

nub

i don';t think it matters what way polarity is unless your connecting 2 or more.
Point and click.

Young Paul82 sir ... I have a spare KKv2 sitting in the workshop doing nowt .. I bought 2 on a whim with someone';s buddy code thinking I';d build 2 quads - but never did  :whistling:

If you PM me your address you can have it - I hate to see it gathering dust when others are in need  ;)

It may need resetting to factory as I think I messed with the settings once - but it';ll be fine I';m sure ... and the magic smoke is still inside I know that  :azn

Let me know if you want it  ~~
