Changed my Crius V2 from MultiWii to Mpng 2.8R3, used the default PIDs, tried it this morning.

It was really shaky and flip right away.

What should i do with it ?

Thanks.

normally if it flips its an indication motors are in wrong configuration

Mission planner , cli > setup > motor

which pulses each motor in turn . ( check motor order )

Check the motor spin direction , eg clockwise , anticlockwise , clockwise , anticlockwise

check and calibrate the esc in block .

Motor location and direction is correct. Already checked.
I can bring it off the ground but just about 1-2 feet, but it really shaky then it flip

I`m still in the stage of setting my hex up and learning how to set it up .

what start it flipping the wind ?
Does it start to rock and little and get more and until it flips ?

MY problem with it flipping was the esc calibration , i fixed the problem by doing all the esc`s in block instead of each esc , one by one.

Check frame config in APM_Config.h
Check Motor Mapping
Check that you are in stabalise mode
Flips are extreme and nearly always caused by the above.. (assuming props on right motors / direction)

Dougle checked, everything is correct.
Try to bring down the P bit by bit. Now i';m at 0.03 for P for both picth and roll, It was at 0.175 by default.

Now I can hover it, but it drift around, can not stay in 1 place, but it level.
GPS is locked.

What should I do to keep it can stay ?

Thanks.

I`m in the same stage as you starting off by learning now to get my hex to hover correctly.
My hex at first flipping and was very unstable , o.k I may have cheated by installing 29.1 .
But the main fault was esc calibration !!!!
The GPS doesn`t matter if you are flying in stabilise or acro , the GPS only come into play on loiter .
I think you have to increase your P gain from 0.03, because if you get it too low it get hard to control , you are doing constant stick movement.
if you can get it to srtay in the air doesn`t look like a setup fault .

Try starting off with my firmware and params files. They will get you flying stable at least with most frames as a good start:

For firmware settings and information files please see my public Google Docs folder:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B-B7PQy0joGrUjFmb2pSTFlqcWc&usp=sharing

After that just tune the rate (roll/pitch) P gain a bit then the stabalise (roll/pitch) P value

Just setup channel 5 for flight mode and channel 6 for inflight tuning.
So far so good, P is at 0.08 now. I can fly in Acro mode as well
Still playing around with it.
In the Stabilize mode, my quad keep moving around in the parking lot. It that how it suppose to be ?
Thanks.

I would try 29.1 addon to see if that`s better for you .
When back to 28.3 today to use the dataflash log functions which look to been removed in 29.1 addon .
It`s a lot more stable using 29.1 than 28.3 !!!!!
I think stabilise mode is no loiter , it just get more controllable if it`s set up right.

@ausi1972 is Peter King in disguise mode eh ?
I thought you would have a peterk or kingser etc for your user name.

Saw some issues with 2.9 and it is not on the shefl yet. I';m still new with quad, so I think i should stay away with beta.

I have couple questions:
1. When I do the in-flight tunning for rate PID, I should do it in Stabilize or Acro mode ?
2. When we do the ESC calibration, it will keep the Esc as is and make the FC match to the Esc or keep the FC as is and adjust the ESC to match the FC ?

Thanks.

1/ Reading from the arducopter manual :-
Use stabilise because if it doesn`t fly in stabilise it will not fly at all.

2/  ESC calibration mode passes the throttle setting directly to all ESCs ,
( so you can do the ESC calibration , full throttle , add power , beeps , down to low throttle , remove power)
there is no adjust for each ESC.
If each ESC have different start and end point , when the controller says 50% throttle on all motors you can see the they will be a problem if that turn into completely different speeds for each motor , a flip or unstable .

I would say , "keep the FC as is and adjust the ESC to match"
it`s the ESCs which are set not the controller , it`s radio calibration which is the controller part which is set .

cuongvd

But if we use the ESC with Simon or BLHeli firmware which supports the setting for MAX and MIN PWM pulse, then we set it up directly into the ESC then bypass the calibration ?

That';s what ESC calibration is , bypass the controller and passing throttle end points direct to all the ESCs
