Motor Balancing

I thought that I';d share my experience with the group on this subject.

Scouring the net for different methods of motor balance I looked at the following methods for specific reasons;

Method                 Reason

Ear                        Getting too old!
Osciliscope            Way too technical and no scope
Trial & Error           Very Hit & Miss!
Laser Light            Adopted method.

I have fond that the laser method works for me very well! Here is the video I saw. Flite Test - Laser Balancing Props - FLITE TIP

So I went ahead and balanced one of the following motors. http://www.unmannedtechshop.co.uk/rc-gear/bl-motor-esc/brushless-motor-emax-mt2213-935kv.html

Balancing was quite straight forward, so I thought that I would experiment a bit. I went and out on the prop nut and checked the motor balance again!

Guess what?

The motor was way off balance! The conclusion here is to balance the motor with the prop nut on!

Another lesson learnt!
