"Ethix" Heated LiPo Battery Bag

Ordered yesterday from "Droneislife", arrived today.

Looks very well made.

No instructions provided at all, not even on Ethix website, which has no support tab, and if you hold briefly expecting the power button which obviously has a LED to light up you'll end up in voltage calibration mode and possibly upset the factory set product!

Does heat up quite quickly once you press power button VERY briefly and release.

Stated to hold 20 to 30 1300mAh packs and heat to approx. 50 degrees C.



Sitting here with contents chamber empty apart from temp monitor, fed externally from an old time expired Heli 6S, stats are:-

Battery used – Old 5000mAh 6S as it came not fresh charged was @ 4.05v per cell after 30 mins running.

Current Drawn – 300mA at start, 200mA after 15 mins, 100mA after 30 mins running.

Temp – Start ambient 18.5C, after five minutes 40C, after 30 mins 45.6C

Not much evidence of heat leakage so insulation is good.

Now to wait for a cold morning................

So, Update:

The bag is seeing use every time, and generally now I am starting it off fully loaded with 1550/4S (Hawk/Sport Hawk), 1800/4S (GEPRC Mk4, Nazgul Evoque) and 850/4S (Babyhawk II HD). Feed from a 5000/6S.  So far I have kept the 6S inside the bag, too, as the space available is adequate for a session, and can be re-loaded with a few more if needed buried under the ones at temp to spread the heat into them.

I now start it as I'm leaving home, so roughly 40 minutes before any packs would be used, as when I get to field (around tem mins) I usually have to do some housekeeping since other users find it acceptable to "use and drop" and anyway our planning permission is for a 10am earliest start. 

Its been used on a 5C morning with a 13mph wind, the lowest so far. It stands on a pit table in the open close to where stand to fly.

Seems to be adding around a minute at worst to maybe nearer three minutes, compared to  "control" packs left unheated but out of the direct wind.

I'm getting tempted to play with the idea DIY as I have an unused near identical well insulated food cool bag, and a spare heater pad for a 100x100 3D Printer Bed. Now all I need is the control gear!
