Hi all.
Managed to knacker two consecutive omnibus f4's by knocking the usb ports off the both of them -- some colourful words were passed in disbelief as the second came adrift I can assure you!  :banghead:

Long story short - can't re-solder the usb's as pads have torn off the board (seems to be a design fault.
I'm currently trying to re- flash them using an st-link and YouTube video to see if I can save them before purchasing a third - but I seem to be getting nowhere fast. Can't seem to get the st link to talk to the boards even with the bootloader held down.
Anyone got any bright ideas? Or any sure fire ways of doing it?
Any help at all appreciated - I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this side of things!
Ta muchly!

Have a look at this youtube vid:

Hopefully it will help but I think it uses and FTFI adapter not an st-link.
Hope it helps. Good Luck.
I try :-)

Thanks Ched - that's the video I'm actually trying to follow!
The chip needs re- flashing with an st link before using the FTFI adapter to connect to betaflight. I already had an FTFI adapter lying around so bought a £5 st link to try before another £40 flight controller - thought it was worth a shot, but it's not having any of it! Seems the fc and st link don't want to talk to each other!

Just can't believe ive managed to be so stupid in knocking 2 consecutive usb's off.
(mind you the Saturday night building beers might have had something to do with it!)  :wack0

Or in reality - just a very lucky find!
By chance I happened to notice one of the pins on my st-link was pushed in slightly - I slid the metal cover back and found that three of the 10 pins had not been soldered to the board at all - two minutes in the shed and three blobs of solder later - job done!  :D

Thanks Ched for the reply! ;)

It's great that you managed to resurrect the fc and thanks for sharing the solution as it may help others in future.
I try :-)
