Oh yeah 6 packs in this morning.

Loving this reincarnation of my basher quad and betaflight V3.

Is that the dark tail ...

I stuck  a QuanumElite tx/camera combo  on a plank glider to do a range test,  well impressed.  Specked out and no signal loss!!! used Fatfart Attitudes2 with Aomway clover leaf , and

Yep
I pulled the arms off the grasshopper and mounted it on the DT with the bigger motors that were already on it.
Bit of a splice but it works  ::)

Niceone you have given me an idear I still have two tarot 250
Arms I';ll see if I can splice them on to the broken dark tail frame

Just been out flying the combat wing. I decided to try a 1500. 3s on board with over 30mins flying, cruising round on as little as possible throttle, soaring the breeze and getting bits of lift from a tree line down wind of the field. Checking the Lipo voltage on landing it was only on 11.6v !

Careful that sort of thing can be addictive, I charged a battery the other day after around half hour flight and the charger reported around 660mah to full, found myself looking forward to the next flight (and charge) a bit too much...

Delta Wing own design with pod fuselage carrying a biggish cell pack quite a few years old much used but new to the Tx its now on threw a wobbly today, launched, climbed out (near vertically, it has over 450 Watts on 280 grammes weight), levelled off, half circuit on half throttle, did two rolls and it suddenly in level flight it flipped over, went full throttle, full down, full right, ending up in a perfect inverted power sycamore seed spin I';d have been proud of if only I was actually in control.  (and no, that wasn';t what was set in fail safe, OK??)

As it windmilled down losing height slowly I still had nothing (no warnings or anything else either). The wind pushed its spin nearer to me and it came back over the patch as it suddenly responded to throttle (or fail safed, not sure which) at a couple of metres up, softening the hit.

Not really much damage but annoying as its flouro painted over Poly-C';d foam.  It all works, nothing had disconnected mechanically or electrically, and a range check showed a decent result. SO, what was it caused by?

An hour later my 1306 motored 160 Quad blacked out at about 50 foot up in a flip while going flat out and I had to cut it and hope.  (Spotter says "Oh was that not you then?) Looking at it now I';m pretty sure that the cable tie retention for the VTX failed and it pulled out the power wires coming up from the PDB from its plug as it flailed around. As long as I can get the tiny tabs back the right way on the plug metals it';ll be an easy fix, well  that it is will be if it didn';t do electrical damage as the live wires moved around......I';m about to go and find out..........

SIGH.....................

LATER EDIT :-  The tabs sheared off at the slightest bending back, so the pins have been "potted" into place with a tiny amount of hot glue on the cable insulation and plug body. Now it has THREE cable ties holding it on!!

Went to work with a couple of flying things in the car on the off chance I might be able to fly. Managed to warp the Raven wing in a hot car, burn a sun spot in my goggles and crash my Alien 5 into a phantom branch breaking the flight controller connection to the PDB. Also very nearly destroyed a go pro but managed to get it working again. Sometimes I don';t know why I bother...

I had two Ravens, one given to me. "My" one was assembled with no glue in the UK, went with me to Fuertaventura in bits, taped up out there, then when I returned, and it wasn';t going abroad again, I glued it up, later I did :-

I gave the other one away to a 6th former who helped me run the school RC club.  EPP is easily moved around so it';ll be fine, bend it back!

Some golf course cruising around. This was the last flight of the Emax squeeler I';ve stripped it out to build the updated version. I hope it flies well coz this one flew really nice when it wasn';t windy as hell!

Fir a couple of minutes, far too windy but thought I would take a walk anyway,I forgot to take my glass';s so wouldn';t have seen much anyway but I had a bouncey first landing due to wind and ended up upside down.before I disarmed the props must have got jammed and a prop nut came off some how,so stopped play.

I am learning loads a new pre flight checks and learning what other items I need to take with me,so added 4 prop nuts to the little toolbox I take.

Will see what weather is like later but it';s not looking too great up West Yorkshire!

Took the PH 3 out for some exercise, I initially thought  the wind  was  too strong,I got to the first site and got some fairly low level shots. At the second site the wind had picked up, but tried it anyway, went well for about 3 mins then massive gusts ,never been so glad to land.

Started to go this morning, to find the lane closed. Someone fly tipping or a lorry spill, stuff strewn everywhere, general tat but also some serious lumps like old cast radiators, a tall fridge freezer, etc.

Got to the field finally, and it was very very gusty, dropping under ten then snapping up to 20ish (on anemometer).  Got the 1306 motored 180 out................ four batteries later  :whistling:

Then flew the SuperFly delta, which always goes well regardless of wind speed.  Clearly doing lots of slope soaring also makes for good flying in wind capabilities with power, too.

Took my knackered tricopter down fixed all The motors .
Well put new serclips on them
The serclips were 0.3 mm to big so gave them a squeeze
With the pliers and Thay work fine
Had some fun with the worst designed tricopter ever
It';s so heavy after a loop you need full throttle
Forgot self level was on the kk2 and nearly hit myself
With it
Also fixed all the motors on my 450 with new serclips
So just need some new esc for that.
Flu the new 250 acro still got a small glitch like when I used to fly 25 o 27 MHz can';t remember but my falcon helicopter
Used to twitch now my 250 acro is twitching ..
I';ll soon have 3 working multis and another on the way
Tomorrow hopefully if parts turn up

4 batteries,1 lost prop locking nut (had spares) 2 hard landings, just beginners fly out and back stuff, lost control two times flying the quad back to me and going over and behind my head, gotta learn to just put forward input on stick, instead tried turning round with the tx in my hands and ended up going all tipsy turvy!

This was the second crash and ended my learners sesh for today, lucky I was on the back end of the 4th battery!

Bit more CX33S action this morning, trying to get used to watching the screen instead of the model, it';s not easy for me but getting there slowly. Flight to be added to the CX33S thread when I can upload it - will be tonight now; you can see in the vid where I am now ::)
Off for a pint (or two) at Stourport ::) ::) ::)

First flight Skywalker X-1 with Dys 1806 quad motor 5x3 prop, flies pretty well (fast) but I really need to concentrate as when it goes wrong it can go wrong in a hurry as it has so little mass, surprisingly agile vertically (gets small very quickly). I was going to FPV this one but it is hard to fly slowly in a bit of wind so can see a loss. Will probably take it to work for lunchtimes in a bigger field.

Had my first problem with an FrSky X4R, put it in this model and was getting critical RSSI at about 70m, almost like range check was on all the time, bit hairy for a maiden (ooh er missus) as I was leaning how to control/trim it in a postage stamp and trying to line up for a landing without going too far away. Luckily I had a second one I could use and that seems normal, nothing obvious with the faulty one and that is an old favourite that I';m pretty sure was fine in the last plane.

Been flying an Armitan I got off a vey nice bloke... flies sweet and has not bitten me like I thought it might, not had the guts to try four cell yet and still have to land a bit away from myself as the camera angle is set high (and I want to get used to that again) it is too nice to crunch in the first week for sure.

Bad Raven

Several sessions round the garden with and without hoops with Inductrix FPV.

One battery ended prematurely and the resulting tumble into greenery took the pos wire off the camera, so a quick pause for a solder up, and back flying.  Good this flying at home...........  ~~

Just about to take new S550 up field for a flight my mate will have his S900 and other mate with 580 quad
Volantex Ranger 1600/2000, Ranger 1200 G2, Phoenix S 1600 AR900 Miniskyhunter, ZOHD Dart 635 and a few 680 batwings plus old faithful C1 chaser and a lot of eagletree guardians

Jazzz

Five and half hours soldering burning out an esc programing
Esc and flight controllers.
So I had to scavenge an esc of my fpv 250 that had an undiagnosed intermittent fault .
Gess I now no what the fault on the fpv 250 was because
It';s now transferred to the new dark tail .
This hobby is very trying at times I now have nothing worth
Flying till I replace the esc on both quad copters and I can';t find eny normal 20 amp littleBee esc in the uk
I know I can take another esc of the old 250 fpv and I will
But still need two 20 amp littleBee for the old one
But I did get a hover in the back garden and the emax red base run very smooth

Too much drink and family stuff and I just can';t be ar$ed to pu the quad togeher and find a field to fly in  ::)

Holidays are so much of an inconvenience when it comes to flying.

Well, I got all excited. The missus let me out last night, so I charged both packs, hot-footed it down to the field, got my STOL-500 out the boot of the car, and realised that I';d left the cocking wing spar at home.... So the thing went back into the boot of the car!  :cry

Luckily, I';d also charged the LiPo for my HJ816, so I razzed that around and got about 18 minutes out of a 1500mAh pack. Maybe the fact that I took the camera off and flew it gently on low rates helped. Still, it was getting dusky, and the Hex';s LEDs looked really nice against the darkening sky.

I wonder if the missus will let me out again tonight........  :hmm:

Luckily I don';t have a missus so can get out most days (subject to "be ar$ed" level as per atomiclama) I also don';t drive a car right now so justify spending the money I would on a car, on RC stuff, funny thing is the "car" has cost me loads over the last year or two.
HobbyKing don';t help, they sell car spares you know, as well as full services, TAX, Insurance, MOT etc.

LuMan

I did manage to get about 5 minutes in the kitchen with my cx-10 this morning. Does that count?

5 mins while the missus is not looking, I think so, at the certainty of being sexist I';m sure many women don';t understand the importance of getting it up* while you can in a day.
