Nice vid,  the extra buzz of adrenaline from flying over water  helps to keep the blood flowing. I recognised the beach  as i spent a night fishing there in winter freezing my cherries off. I caught two small cod and spent £10 on rag worm. The Martello  tower should have dissolved by now it was in a state when i was there, and that was over 20 years ago.

Yep. Josh maidened his T-Drones Warrior Pro - massive thanks again to Cheredanine for that.
We popped in a FrSky XSR Mini receiver and set up his QX7.
Turns out the Warrior's FC is basically a Naze32 r6 running CF which we upgraded to a later version. Stock PIDs were done by one of the Rotor Riot team according to Painless 360. :) Seems to pack quite a punch!

This was his first time flying anything other than the little Hubsan. I had him practice some take offs, landings and simple horizon mode nose-out stuff. Second pack - he broke into some tricks he'd learned on the Hubsan! Just a little pirouette but pretty fancy. Super-proud.

Matty even had a pack's worth of hovering and also seems to have taken to it very well.

Seeing as I'd got a week off work for Chrimbo, the missus ensured that I had a list of jobs a long as a roll on Andrex..... 

Still I managed to sling the FQ-17W and the Eachine E57 around the lounge and dining room - much to the delight of the kids!

I took one of my mates down the field (one of the lads Im building a project sparkie for), to give him a taste test, took the original sparkie design along with me also so we could have some chase giggles.


The whole time I had my goggles on all I could hear was

"oh crap I hit that tree"

"sh1te Im in a bush"

"erm dunno were I am now but Im definitely upside down"

thats what he gets for basing his confidence in being able to handle a sparkie based purely on his experience flying his hubsan advanced.

"Its to nippy!" was his excuse

oh well least I know the design holds up to an even more severe beating than I gave it during testing.

Think Ill have to tone down the settings on the one I give him or it'll come back in bits within a day

It's the damp/wet that concerns me, not the cold. I gently warm the packs from their unheated store to room temp before leaving home, the Quads are kept at room temp, and they transfer to field in heated car.

thats one of the joys of having your own designs to fly, the only ones I ever take out in cold or damp conditions are my own designs simple because they have their electronics well enclosed and protected from all but the heaviest kinds of moisture.

Yes, I keep a 7" monitor/receiver on me in case people come by and want to see what I'm doing. People like seeing themselves on the screen

Tried out my new FC (XSRF4PO).
Was a bit misty but otherwise fairly civilised weather.

Ohhhhhhhhh.... but everything feels and sounds so much SMOOOOTHER. Helped a lot by my new QX7. These are just the stock PIDs at the moment so it feels perhaps a little slippery in the air. Looking forward to trying out some in-goggle PID tuning next.

One thing that's different though is that it loses all stabilisation when I drop throttle to zero (like when you're about to do a flip). It just wallows over and recovers when I bring the throttle up. Is that an air mode thing? I notice that the motors don't spool up as soon as I arm like they used to on the old FC/settings.

BUT... it's making landings nicer when thge motors stop and always stays the right was up as it doesn't BOUNCE when I land now. Gotta go play with betaflight.

But happy. very very happy!  ::)

Your right, its because your not using airmode. Put it on a switch to turn off on landing. :)

Four buttock clenching mins fighting with a tail heavy  Mini Skywalker  flying over a muddy swamp full of oilseed.
I set the C.O.G.  spot on according to the destructions,  for maiden flights i usually add a little nose weight just to be
on the safe side , why i didn't i do it this time.???.
On the up side with a  1806..2300kv quad motor with a 5030 prop  it went like snot off a stick.
Finally managed to get it down in one piece and on grass
