Quick trip to the field to help a friend through the first FPV flight using a headset. He's used a screen a little and is well used to a P4.

He'd bought a Blade Mach 25 second hand off another flying friend. One of these:-

Quite hard to see what  they were thinking if they were thinking at all with that one. 

Expensive, heavy (yet only 2mm thick carbon plates), a 250 with reasonable expectation of speed (esp since sold with the "race" tag and lots of race orientated BS text) but hampered if not crippled by only being fitted with a low res low power micro combo and an aerial buried into the frame/bodyshell, severely limiting FPV ability. Really bad CMOS typical light/dark issues

Even with the ungainly "feet" and the bodyshell removed and the camera lifted up to the top of the frame to try to clear the aerial, there's huge potential for aerial masking.

Now heavily discounted, and its not hard to see why.

Camera was badly out of focus with a loose screw thread, but even with this corrected and angled so that sky didn't totally wipe the picture out to a near black "ground", it wasn't pretty!

Yeah, Marketing's job is to try and make whatever dog of a product idea's been dumped on their desk sound like the greatest thing ever...... Even if they haven't got a clue what the product is, or who would want it! They tend to do this using hard to quantify words like "Pro", "Upgraded", "Quality" and "Power" on the box and adverts (Do you remember about 20 years back when you'd have to hunt really hard to find a new product that DIDN'T have the word "TURBO" wrote on it's packaging somewhere ? LOL !).

So the expensive and heavy toy quad with a low res camera and underpowered motors suddenly becomes a "Premium quality FPV racer for the beginner and pro alike, with robustness built into the design, and an energy efficient video and thrust systems for improved flight times and performance".

Helped maiden my friend's wing today, its flying nicely, although he had the elevator reversed on the Tx, that made for an interesting flight and he cannot change it without a computer, as its a Tx he built himself, so he needs to alter it in code.

I flew my wing and Mavic too.

 I tried to get the light without being too bright or glare on the water. I had a 32n filter on, very bright morning light. I dont know enough about camera settings. It looses out when in the shade on the Waverley. The paddle steamer. I wish I knew what I was doing with it as its all a bit hit and miss at times. I bought some new filters that just push over the phantoms camera, so we'll try that this wknd.  I liked the cormorant against the sun, which I tried to get without it flying away. Any camera help would be appreciated.

Yeah, just a quick burn around the field. Two packs - thought my fingers would freeze but it was surprisingly 'warm' in the sun.
Wanted to just practice some take offs and landings in strong, low sunlight with FPV.

Also TRYING to force myself to lead with ROLL rather than YAW when turning so that I don't slide about so much in addition to keeping LOW so that my throttle control is better. Many exciting crashes in the lovely soft grass and no pressure to impress as I didn't have a card in the RC3

Almost!  I took my AXN "Floater Jet/Clouds Fly" up to Coombe Gibbet, a great local spot for hill soaring.  The weather was ALMOST perfect with a strong wing coming from the North North West..Problem was it was about 20 MPH too windy!





43 MPH!!!!! 

I am not sure my AXN can do 30 MPH let alone 40...

It would have been weeeeeeeee!

So discretion took the best part of valor and I went home again. 

Still at least I went, its the thought that counts..sometimes.

It wasn't a wasted journey, it's stunning up there, it was a nice drive and quite "bracing" too.

I did, I flew my nano quad around the bedroom and set up the mCPX and had a quick hover. Didn't get outside to actually 'fly' though.

It's amazing how much stuff you forget after a little break. My thumbs still know what they're doing but it seems I am having to learn how to program a TX all over again

tried to fly the wing wing on 2s set up, this is using suggested wing wing motor........ha not enough power to stay in the air
