  • Reman: Got stuck in traffic yesterday. After an hour I started using my phone (And an OTG cable) to look through the media files on a keyring of my old USB sticks. Found one that had the entire run of "Firefly" on it. I got through 3 episodes before the traffic started moving again....... God, That really was an amazing show.

  • mo_miah: Gav- if its a camera ship then TBS crossfire is definitely what you need, the FrSky has limited channels and telemetry options, TBS crossfire has much better features and more channels to control camera gimbals etc

  • hoverfly: I coated a couple of Slipstreams  a few years ago  It stiffened up the wing nicely .On the down side although it prevented dings when i had an high speed"arrival" it left the resin cracked. and the glass lifted slightly.  Well stuck laminate stiffens the wing and is flexible..

  • DarkButterfly: I'm doing laminate, just put my order in for some, also got some balsa wood for the side parts, had to use a kitchen knife to seperate the foam from the busted wood

  • atomiclama: Thanks, can't decide on fibre glass or laminate. Like the idea of fibre for some reason, don't know why.

  • atomiclama: Anyone fibre glass coat their wings??
    September 05, 2018, 09:30:22
  • atomiclama: @DB well you obviously need a bigger motor and ESC, as flying slower is just not possible.  ::)

  • hoverfly: If you put a couple of coats of Eze Kote on the wing before the laminate it sticks really well ..no lifting..

  • DarkButterfly: If it makes you feel better, I’m going to completely refurbish my falcon Evo with new balsa sides and new laminate ~~

For those of you that are pi$$ed off with nosey postoffice counter assistants asking "whats in the parcel" a novel reply is dehydrated Dihydrogen Monoxide. The usual response is a blank face then , well thats ok.

"What's in the package?"
"Why don't you......... Open it up and take a look?" [Said with a malicious grin while slowly taking two steps backward away from the counter].  LOL !

On a slightly less sinister note, I don't think the counter staff have any need to know what I'm posting, It strikes me as them just being nosey. So whenever the counter staff at my local post office asked that I'd say "A mechanism I've made". It was the second or third time I used this statement before one of the sour faced biddys said I had to be a LOT more specific than that.........  Oh, Do I now?..... OK  ::)

I said the mechanism in the box didn't actually have a name, Then I went into a bull$hit explanation about what this device did (I explained it as a sort of mechanical computer component. And I vaguely remember saying a sentence that went something like "This activates an air operated valve that works a bit like a mechanical transistor...... But that analogy doesn't really work").  It only took about a minute for her to glaze over, But I was on a roll by that point so kept going for a good 4 or 5 minutes. :)

In the end she said "OK....... Erm....... I'll just put it down as a mechanical part then".

Word must have got around there because since then they rarely ask what I'm posting, and if they do ask, I just say "A mechanical device I've built", and that seems to be exactly as specific a description as they need

Oh, And if anyone's wondering what was ACTUALLY in that box, it was a pair of used MK3 Capri headlight mounting plates........ And yes, I WAS slightly nervous at one point that I'd pushed it too far and they'd ask to unseal the box to take a look at what I was posting.
I need a pay rise........ Though I'd settle for a reduction in the amount of hours I need to work to get the same money.

I now use the phrase "Nothing that contravenes the postal regulations" then stare right through them. Works a treat.
Our sour faced old hag  who thought counting stamps for five minutes  before serving customers  was part of delivering good service has retired , thank Clapton. She has been replaced by a mentally "challenged" lad' who takes forever to pick a parcel of a shelf, despite being told it's the box  in front of you with blue tape all over it  despite all the other parcels being white jiffy bags.
