  • Reman: Got stuck in traffic yesterday. After an hour I started using my phone (And an OTG cable) to look through the media files on a keyring of my old USB sticks. Found one that had the entire run of "Firefly" on it. I got through 3 episodes before the traffic started moving again....... God, That really was an amazing show.

  • mo_miah: Gav- if its a camera ship then TBS crossfire is definitely what you need, the FrSky has limited channels and telemetry options, TBS crossfire has much better features and more channels to control camera gimbals etc

  • Gav: mo miah - wanna swap from immertionRC UHF and try something else on my camera Ship.

  • hoverfly: I coated a couple of Slipstreams  a few years ago  It stiffened up the wing nicely .On the down side although it prevented dings when i had an high speed"arrival" it left the resin cracked. and the glass lifted slightly.  Well stuck laminate stiffens the wing and is flexible..
    September 06, 2018, 18:26:13
  • DarkButterfly: I'm doing laminate, just put my order in for some, also got some balsa wood for the side parts, had to use a kitchen knife to seperate the foam from the busted wood
    September 05, 2018, 13:21:11
  • atomiclama: Thanks, can't decide on fibre glass or laminate. Like the idea of fibre for some reason, don't know why.

  • atomiclama: Anyone fibre glass coat their wings??
    September 05, 2018, 09:30:22
  • atomiclama: @DB well you obviously need a bigger motor and ESC, as flying slower is just not possible.  ::)

    September 05, 2018, 09:10:18
  • hoverfly: If you put a couple of coats of Eze Kote on the wing before the laminate it sticks really well ..no lifting..
    September 05, 2018, 08:47:37
  • DarkButterfly: If it makes you feel better, I’m going to completely refurbish my falcon Evo with new balsa sides and new laminate ~~

Did you crash today / this week?
« on: July 09, 2018, 09:15:09 »
We all know that crashing is part of the fun, not only do we learn from crashes but it gives us the excuse to purchase upgrades for those broken parts.

The recent weekly challenges have resulted in some great 'success videos' but I am sure there's a whole bunch of crash footage that would be equally interesting.

With this in mind I think we should embrace those crashes and hence this thread.

Here's a crash compilation from a few weeks ago to get started:

And from yesterday a few stills where a steel cable took out my GoPro screen protector:

Smashed my Air-ro into the underside of a viaduct on Friday evening, totalled the flight stack, antenna, vtx and camera.

Oh well nevermind

That's what they call "very well done" in the business lol. I feel for you, Daich. Happened to me too a couple of times now as well.

Myself and TryingTo were scoping out a new spot last night, it was average but had a lovely valley down the middle with trees flanking either side. It called for some low and fast flying ... even after I took my goggles off the quad was still tumbling along, it really was something to watch  ::) ::)

Did the Quad survive unscathed?

A couple of bent props but other than that it was airborne again in 60 seconds

What type of frame do you. The 3 inch frames I have would have cracked with that type of roll.

This was a 5" Chameleon. The grass was relatively long, which helped, but if this had been onto hard soil / concrete then I'd definitely have broken something.

This could go in either the "Did I fly today" or this thread.

TryingTo and I continue our summer tour of new spots, last night we trekked for a while to a woodland on the edge of a corn field, the spot definitely has potential but our session was marred with problems. TryingTo's XT60 broke as he took his quad out his bag, and I suffered a random failsafe in the openness of a field ... strange ...

Anyway, highs with the lows as they say ...
