Hello all

I had 4 x Rctimer 20 amp ESC';s off teslhed and they are brilliant and are working great but i have forgot what the calibration procedure is and what all the beeps mean for future reference (i am rebuilding again very soon).

Hello teslahed

Thank you for the video but i am not sure if the ESC';s have a table of beeps that indicate different stages of operation like brake on / off etc.

Thanks Dave

Biffa

Correct me if I am wrong but once they have the SimonK firmware there are no settings other than throttle range calibration :hmm:

Hey up Biffa

I did not know that so when my new frame arrives I will check the throttle range again when I have swapped over all the parts.

Biffa is right. Once you';ve got the SimonK firmware on there the only setting to adjust is the throttle calibration. Makes setting them up a bit easier.

Hello Biffa and teslahed

Thank you for your help and at least i know there are no different beep settings and i have purchased a throttle hub so i will just connect up the four ESC';s to the hub and it will save me holding down the buttons on the KK V2.0 board.

Gents,

I';ve got a 30A Rctimer ESC';s in my quad. Yesterday I tried to calibrate them simultaneously as it is described here http://arducopter.googlecode.com/files/APM2_Quad_Setup_3.pdf. Had no succes; after calibration one motor was still starting definitelly later then others with some scratching noise. Then I tried to calibrate all the ESC';s one by one due to the "bedroom procedure" described by teslahed. I found that three ESC sounds three beeps at the end of calibration (thr stick down) like: bip... bip... beeeeep but the fourth one sounds only twice like: bip... bip... And this ESC gives abnormal scratchy motor sound on low RMP.
As I am newbie and had no practice with SimonK firmware - question: Does it make sens to try to fix the ESC in some way or just order a new one (or two :)).
Thanks

Sorry i missed this earlier. You can try reflashing the ESC with the simonK code which might help if you are lucky, but if you don';t already have the tools required;

It would be cheaper just to buy another one as a one off.

As a thought, if you change the motor from a known good esc, do you get the same result on that esc, or does the problem.move with the motor?

I';ve had broken wires in a motor that gave similar results

Many Thanks

HowDoIfly

I have rctimer ESC';s and kept the instructions to program them if anyone needs them, give me a shout and I';ll copypasta the details. FYI, I changed the timing (as per arducopters guide) and another advisory I didn';t change was to set battery cutoff to not Lipo (can';t recall which they advised now!)
