Here is is my Review of the Eachine ROTG02 FPV Receiver for Android. A Simple to use Video Receiver for your Mobile Phone that offers Diversity and depending on the software you use you can also use it for DVR.  https://youtu.be/ohXoA9jIq7A

Just got one for £18.

Very impressed by the performance on the two supplied "rubber ducks".

So far have used the software linked by the website advert, FUAV.

Did you @palros  (Paul) or anyone work out what the other socket is for?

shawdreamer

Think its just your standard 5v, earth, video and maybe audio out.

I have both the rotg01 and the 02, as far as I can tell there more or less a stock vtx with a USB signal convertor cobbled in,

That would be the logical answer, but this is the Chinese, so heaven only knows what or even what pin order, etc, etc!

What software do you use, have you tried more than one, and which seems best to you please?

shawdreamer

nothing like a bit of Engwish twanslatwon to get the old grey matter working though.

I tried a few different apps when I first got the Rotg01, about half a dozen or so, some off play store some scattered about the net but I eventually settled with "FPViewer" as it gave the best stability and had all the features Id need goggle split screen, wide/full, high frame rate and the record feature works well enough without causing massive amounts of latency (wouldnt chance fast flying while recording still though).

when I also got the Rotg02 I carried on using FPViewer as it works just as well with that too, tbf theres no reason why it wouldn't as the 02 is pretty much the 01 with a bit of diversity thrown in. (though that "bit of" definitely makes a big difference to the range and strength of signal)

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=labsp.android.viewer&hl=en_GB

mines mounted to the back of my turnigy evo tx and I primarily use it to record rather than fly through it, saves me having to draw a feed off my goggles.

oh and I also binned one of the duckies for a clover which match the rx clovers on my frames which also improved the signal strength. ~~

True, but unfortunately that depends on there BEING stuff to translate, and in the case of the second socket, that's what is missing AFAIK.

I was just about to have a little play around with my older rotg01 and see if I coukd  id the pinout when I found this....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7RYp6sO_Lw

the rotg02 as I said is the same as the 01 but with diversity antennas added so essentially the pinout should be the same also, heres a quick snap of my own 01 and the pinout is shown on the 01 where-as the 02 has a second scan button were the pinout is usually listed so they probably just decided not to bother.

This is a good bit of kit, used it with an eashine TX02 but so far have not got it hooked up to my mobius/vtx but might be camera setting NTSC/PAL

its handy to have and a bit more practical than using your usual vrx, specially when your just looking for something to act as a dvr (over otg to a android device that is), add in the decent scanning feature and the fact that neither my 01 or 02 have failed to pick up a signal all my other vrx's can pick up and it fills my needs nicely, coincidentally Ive think Ive had the 02 pick up both pal and ntsc before and not noticed a problem so that shouldnt be an issue atleast.

Got it working on my Mobius/vtx now, very sharp and clear, so now got FPV on my C1 chaser wing

As i understand it the port is for connecting to a the Eachine DVR

that maybe its intended use but Its really just a Audio,Video, 5v live and earth connector, tbh though unless the dvr comes with a split-"Y" 5v/earth cable I dont see how it could be used by the DVR as something has to supply the power that both use, suppose the OTG device could supply the power but if thats plugged in then the DVR is kinda redundant as the OTG device can be used as a DVR..... bit chicken and the egg really? :hmm:

You could power it from one of those 5v usb power packs for recharging phones. Then add the little dvr and you have a small portable rx dvr.
I try :-)

shawdreamer

that also depends is the Rotg is safe to flow voltage OUT via that port, most the time you power the Vrx not power through it....might work.....then again might just fry the Rotg

Very true, it's all guess work. If only the manufacturers would actually produce a proper manual.....
I try :-)

palros

to be honest, the software lets you record onto your phone. So i dont really see the point in a DVR (in my setup).
