  • Reman: Got stuck in traffic yesterday. After an hour I started using my phone (And an OTG cable) to look through the media files on a keyring of my old USB sticks. Found one that had the entire run of "Firefly" on it. I got through 3 episodes before the traffic started moving again....... God, That really was an amazing show.

  • mo_miah: Gav- if its a camera ship then TBS crossfire is definitely what you need, the FrSky has limited channels and telemetry options, TBS crossfire has much better features and more channels to control camera gimbals etc

  • hoverfly: I coated a couple of Slipstreams  a few years ago  It stiffened up the wing nicely .On the down side although it prevented dings when i had an high speed"arrival" it left the resin cracked. and the glass lifted slightly.  Well stuck laminate stiffens the wing and is flexible..

  • DarkButterfly: I'm doing laminate, just put my order in for some, also got some balsa wood for the side parts, had to use a kitchen knife to seperate the foam from the busted wood

  • atomiclama: Thanks, can't decide on fibre glass or laminate. Like the idea of fibre for some reason, don't know why.

  • atomiclama: @DB well you obviously need a bigger motor and ESC, as flying slower is just not possible.  ::)

  • hoverfly: If you put a couple of coats of Eze Kote on the wing before the laminate it sticks really well ..no lifting..

Dm002 FPV issues
« on: March 09, 2018, 19:48:01 »
With a little bit of spare time I decided to try and set up the fpv for my micro quad.
It's a DM002 FPV quad from banggood. Flys great but I just can't get the FPV to transmit reliably. I have changed the frequency and bands and can intermittently see the picture but it stays for about 1 sec and then off for 2 and then repeats.

Anyone had this issue before and can shed some light on it.

It's the same on 2 receivers.

Thanks

Since you have tried two receivers, it boils down to:-

1. Frequency not correctly tuned, close but not right.  Is the flicker random or truly timed as you suggest?

2. VTX output, possibly bad connection at top of RHCP array. Look very carefully at this under good light and a magnifier. I have had a couple fail on the lower (outer co-ax) connection, needed re-soldering.

It's random but cyclical. Seems to be a picture on as soon as I power up.

Thanks for the suggestion I will look at the joints under magnification.

Shame really as I have not used it since I bought it about 9 months ago....so can't even moan about it to banggood.

It flies really well too.

Too many good reports and reviews around to be an inherent weakness or fault.

When you consider the number of these small fiddly units produced, the build rate, and the selling price point, it is pretty evident in engineering terms that there will be quality failures.  That is before the units start taking knocks and scrapes.

Sometimes though it is made evident that the units are far more robust than might be expected. I had one camera combo taken out of its housing on a Martian 90 in a violent tumbling crash which grabbed the RHCP array (the loom bands failed and that actually takes a fair load). The camera combo then swung around on its wiring, was hit by a prop and fell PCB to FC PCB, shorting out to a flash of light and a completely melted away feed wire.

Yes, the feed wire melted like a large fuse, heavens only knew how much current was passing through!

Almost as a laugh I rewired it............... and it all worked perfectly, and still does.

On another occasion an Aurora 90 dropped battery voltage early and went down gently in pretty much a normal landing but just in the slightly longer patch edge grass, right way up, a very few torn off dew wet blades of grass going into the FC area. And......its electronics were completely trashed.

Hopefully yours is the former state, but then its only less than £20 to get a good replacement unit to replace.

i cant see any damage and the frequency is fine.

When the picture is stable its perfect.

I have ordered another £23 with a coupon...that's almost the same price as the replacement vtx, thanks
