CC3D Revo F4 broken USB

Hello everyone,

I got this kit from Bangood: https://www.banggood.com/Realacc-X210-PRO-3K-Frame-w-CC3D-REVO-F4-Racerstar-BR2205-2600KV-Motor-RS30A-V2-Blheli_S-5X4X3-Prop-p-1102264.html?rmmds=myorder I completely finished the build and soldering the electronics.

At the stage of doing the flash with Betaflight, something horrible happened  (so unlucky): The micro USB of the flight controller (CC3D REVO F4 STM32F405 Flight Controller) snap in a very bad way. (It just ripped off, there is no way to solder it back since the pad are gone).

I am now with a complete quadcopter build, frustrated that the micro USB has been destroyed so easily (it must be a defect from the vendor). I would like to keep my build intact, so I saw that we can use an FDTI232 Adapter in order to use the UART1 port and bypass the USB connection to be able to flash the FC on BF.

I'm not so sure about the connection between the CC3D Revo F4 & the FTDI232 Adapter, can someone please explain it to me clearly, any links or page to read will be useful, I hope this still possible to save, I don't really want to order another FC and redo the soldering from scratch.

Thank you.

This schema is actually very useful to me. Seems like I just need to use the UART1 RX & TX for the FDTI232 Adapter.

Anyone knows something about this topic?

Hook the ftdi to uart 1 of the FC.

Press hold the boot pin and power up the FC.

Should now be in boot mode and can use the configurator to program the FC.

I think you can use the UART for porgramming oin the F4 but not tried it.

Not sure id MSP is enabled on UART1 by default.

But I can do a custom build if required.

(it must be a defect from the vendor).

The USB socket has some tabs that are to fix the connector to the board, there are many cases where these have not been soldered correctly. This is what you get with cheap poor manufactured product.

The USB connector can be fixed with some small wire soldered onto the connector and then bridged to the track that is left on the board. But it is not easy

Oh yeah the boot pin with fall apart after a couple of presses.

Did I mention cheap cr$p  ::)

@atomiclama Cheers for your answer. Haha yeah totally agree with you, this must be some cheap cr*p as you said, but you know it's a good idea to start cheap as a beginner, there is no point in buying top-notch electronic components when you know you're going to smash your quad in 30 seconds. But anyway, thanks for your hint! I let you know how it goes.
