Dji f550 hexacopter help please?

Hello i am new to the forum, couldnt find anywhere to post about the dji f550 so i chose this one.

I bought the hexacopter complete without a transmitter, it has a receiver fitted which is a spektrum ar7010 with the extra arial dsmx i think? it has naza m lite flight controller & tarot electric retractable landing legs.. what would any one advise i do for a transmitter? do i buy a spektrum to match the receiver or do i replace it all with a flysky system to save me money?

What channel transmitter will i need bearing in mind it has 5 motors & esc's & i want the landing legs to work? apparently everything worked before i bought it with a dx8 handset but i dont want to pay a crazy amount for a transmitter like that.

Another question what gimbal do people use? i've bought a cheaper 4k camera for £50 & it seems decent enough.

Any help would be appreciated thanks,

Declan.

First Welcome to the Forum.

I have a 550 copy and I'm using a Taranis Tx with a X8R Rx  apart from the 4 basic channels (Pitch,Roll,Yaw & Throttle) you'll need another for Mode control, another for the retractable U/C. Then I have a 3 axis gimbal for my Go-Pro copy so that uses another 3 channels, I also have a video switch between the gimbal and a fixed camera and then another switch that can switch the gimbal controls to another Tx So in all I'm using 11 channels

Thank you!

Does a gimbal take 3 channels? so I will need at least 11 channel tx/rx too? also how does the gimbal work? does it just connect to the flight controller & work? I really need help here I'm only used to planes & cars.

Thanks
Declan

My gimbal takes 3 channels Pitch, Yaw & Modes, and is independant from the flight controller, it has it's own controller that takes care of the pitch/roll/yaw depending on what mode you have selected

The minimum Tx/Rx you will need for your setup, without control of any gimbal will be a 6 channel (pitch/roll/yaw/throttle/modes & U/C)

The advantage of the Taranis is it has 16 channels if you use the S-Bus on the Rx, so as I said I'm currently using 11 channels but I could add more like switching the LED lighting on/off or an emergency parachute

Ok thankyou, I understand now!

I have a sanwa 35ghz  6 ch system on my plane it all works fine, tried it on my drone but no joy? doesn't power up the motors, any idea?

Thanks
Declan

Have you downloaded the DJI Configurator? There may be an arming switch setup so your rx wont do that unless you connect it to the correct channel. Before you connect ANY power take the props off!!!!

Get it connected to your computer and you will be able to see how the rx was setup.
I try :-)

I haven't, what is that? once I download it how do I connect it to the dji unit to change it? I'm desperate to fly!

Thanks so much for the help lads!

Try https://www.dji.com/naza-m-lite/download. You connect the Naza Lite Flight Controller via micro usb to your computer once you have installed the Assistant.
Then you might have to register but it then allows you to backup the current config (best to do this in case you change something by mistake).
Now you can go to the RX tab and see if a channel is set to arm etc
Remember unless you are ready to fly Props OFF!!!!!

I've just got into bed after hours of trying to make it work! some one shed some light! I Downloaded the program (dji naza m lite assistant 1.00) which is the only one I can find Anywhere? My naza m lite is the white & red one.

I got it plugged into the laptop but configuring the controls is not working. When moving the Transmitter sticks either way the program doesn't know that I am but from Watching videos & Instructions it should.

I am using a rd6000 (35mhz) sanwa tx/rx is the receiver classed as traditional? its numbered (1-7b).. having a total nightmare here.. I turned off the radio while leaving the copter with power On & for the first time ever the motors all started going, the handset when turned back on could Control the motors to a extent but they would never fully shut off until I disconnected the battery But then I couldn't get the motors to go again.

The tx/rx work fine, tested on all channels on my plane but the naza just isn't working on the Program? anyone had this? I'm wiring the naza to the sanwa receiver like a futaba receiver would Be..

All the led lights come on as they should & it makes a noise their must be something tricking me! I've set the tx to model 1 aeroplane & all end points at 100%, all stick movements are on normal.. I am so sick!

Help please!

Morning Declan
First point to check is the version of the Naza, have you bought the unit second hand? It might of been flashed to V2....
Let me know and I can guide you further.

Two-Six

I think putting too much time and effort into getting your Sanwa 35Mhz system working is just a little pointless, keep it in your plane.

I would sell the spectrum RX they are still worth a fair bit and get a Taranis, they often come with a "free" 8 channel X8R RX that also does SBUS so you can have 16 channels on the go!.

Can you confirm what Windows system you are running?

mechanicdeclan

Yes I'm running windows 10 brand new laptop..

6705russell

Ok, I am fairly sure I can help you, I suspect you have not disabled digital signatures which stops you using the dji software, also you need to download the drivers for the software as well, unfortunately I have to go out now but I can talk you through this later if you need me to...Drop me a pm and let me know best time to sort with you....

Well done. What was the problem in case anyone else has similar in future?
I try :-)

mechanicdeclan

So happy its sorted, well its all to do with laptop/pc drivers & software, Russell talked me through it On the phone it was so complicated, changing settings throughout my laptop windows 10 to make Dji compatible.. also settings on dji naza firmware to set up was just difficult.

I would of never ever Of got it working without him or paying someone so thanks again!

6705russell

No problems, I have researched a lot with DJI software,s in the last 12 months as I have used Naza lite, V2 and Wookong on my builds..

Just getting my head around Mission Planner now...
