Xiaomi 4k Update

Cant help feeling i have lost all faith in this product, i have managed to install app on my new phone, so this is nicer to use but cant see it helping with problems i am having. I have done what Gearbest ask customers to do and leave an honest review, some how i dont think they will publish it 
I now seem to have an overwhelming desire to take a large hammer to this drone and beat it to a pulp, though i will refrain from doing this as it would be silly, its just how its got me feeling and how i wish i had not bought it in the first place, should of just stuck with the self destruct phantom of the opera, lucky i still have this P3
so now the question is what to do with it, trying to return it to Gearbest will be like selling Guinness to the Irish, the cost of sending it back to them is out of the question, it has got me that frustrated i dont really even want to fly it now (even if it would let me)

Have xiaomi  sent you the firmware update yet, it might just sort it. If the compass is in the landing strut  like the phantom  it might pay to check the wiring.

Dont think Xiaomi will be sending any updates, and the system is showing fully updated

Going to give it one more try next slot in weather, been told a few tips and one tip seems to come up a few times, if it dont fly then i will contact Gearshite and tell them its coming back for refund, will cost a packet to send back but better to get 2 thirds back

Took it out front where i would expect strong interference, but i turned android phone to aircraft mode, plonked it down powered up and a new message appeared on screen "Could fly", this means it was happy to take of, a long press of auto take of would have put it 12ft in the air, i did not as parked cars/houses and such, all this was with no hitch or glitch

Airplane mode is a must, or at least turn WiFi and Bluetooth off.

I tried it in my tiny back yard, yet again it should "could fly" after turning it 90 degree so all looking good, proper maiden and first video shoot on sunday

I took mine out yesterday morning, it was a bit of a faff with the compass before deciding actually, it's all fine. Gorgeous day for it, I'll stick some video up when I've edited it. I did get a bit of a shock when I glanced at the altitude and saw it was -1.2m, but that was 'cos I took off from a pier then dropped down.

I have now found out that the Mi has to have new props after around 25 flights as the Q/R hubs wear, this can lead to a prop coming of in flight.....i will be putting it up for sale come the weekend

Sounds like lots of issues with the Mi,,,, not good !
I'm quite sure you'll get a good resale price for it though,,, at least you gave it a go

Once its sold i am rather tempted to strip my beloved AQ600 and donate its vital organs into a Tarot 650 sport frame, then fit better gimbal and camera, only problem i dont have enough channels on my radio, need 7 to work right unless i dont use the retracts

Sounds like a good idea.
Build and set up for the retracts, then just upgrade to a better radio at a later date

For about £40 you can get a Flysky i6 that can be flashed to 14 channels and does some telemetry!

I use Flysky ai6, but looked into flashing it and dont have the bits or savvy to do this

Apollo7, all you need is an ftdi adapter (less than £5) a couple of bits of wire and that's it. It is really easy to do.

Thanks, i think i have an ftdi adaptor from KK2.1 days....need to decide what i will be doing, might just put a better camera/gimbal on the AQ600..........the Mi is now on drone junk yard

If you want to look at the i6 flashing here is the guide I used:

I downloaded a newer version from here: https://github.com/qba667/FlySkyI6/releases/tag/1.6.3 As I have not added an extra switch I used the NO_SWE14 version.

There is also a few newer versions here  https://github.com/qba667/FlySkyI6/releases Which gives you some more info on what has been added/fixed.

I will update mine to the latest (1.7.5, Final Build) as it has some nice bits added since I flashed mine last year.

Starting to feel like a Tory politician as i have done a big U turn and pulled the add for this Mi drone, i think its only fair to get a few more flights with it and see if it can start to impress me some  :embarrassed

only option is to replace motors as the 4k motors have like square lugs as part of the motor instead of a screw thread, props are quite cheap, about £4 for a set, and you get a spare set, so worst case scenario 2 sets of props in a year?
Also i wont be removing the props after flights (just checking them) so that might cut wear down

You could try weak threadlock on the mount to take up some slop, it might help to stabilize them a bit.

Where did you hear about the 25 flight replacement for props?

I've read a few times that they can develop slop after a while (mine are still fine maybe ten flights in) but there's a fix using tiny bits of tape on the mounts.

some one on the FB xiaomi group said the hubs wear out and he has replaced them a couple of times and is now waiting for more new ones, but 25 flights is getting on for a year of flying and i wonder if the problem is made worse by removing the props after each flight
