Should esc`s use power on idle ?

Hi , I`m not sure if I have a problem with my esc,s ? or if I`ve not set up the AIO v2 controller right yet ?.

How much current should a hex load of  HobbyKing 30A BlueSeries speed controller ( simonk-ed ) use in idle ?.
I`ve been configuring the motors for right spin direction , eg top left clockwire , next motor anti clock etc etc .

Using a voltmeter I can see the voltage dropping a bit faster than I would have thought for a just a idle state.
Half of the esc are a little warm , (using a ubec , so not powering the board etc ) , so I`m think the esc are using power in idle .

I think it';s the motors that draw power when idle. I read something on giantshark that they draw more current when idle than when they are running. If you look at the motor specs most say what they will draw when idle.

ooops , idle ? may be the wrong word ( not spinning )

look at http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/idle I a`m right with my definition .

"not working or active"

Not so bad after all :- only 1/2 drop in a hour ( 12.5 > 12v ) and that powering the Rx , gps , AIO v2 , 3dr radio .
