  • Bad Raven: I think a lot of us will have seen the published (leaked) training instructions to police officers on FPV, which was both incomplete and incorrect. Only the Little Hitler types will be comfortable treading any of that path!

  • Reman: Thought for the day - If a knowledgeable police officer stopped you and saw that you had a "600mW" VTX on your quad he'll get funny about it, But would even a VERY knowledgeable officer know what they were looking at if the same VTX had a professional looking label under the heat shrink that proclaimed that the VTX was in fact a 25mW unit?  :hmm:

Tx modification P3s
« on: October 30, 2017, 19:42:24 »
Decided to mod the P3s antennas for hopefully better range.
The 2.4 ghz internal panels have been removed, new external alfa 7dbi paddles fitted.
The stock 5.8ghz antenna replaced with a Silverstone 7dbi high gain omni at 230mm long.
The rp-sma to ipx conector fitted with holes having to be drilled in the top of the Tx plastic casing.

I've got a few trips to the coast planed so I'll range test over some large bodies of water.

Just waiting for postie to deliver two 5W 2.4GHz range boosters, so I've made a bracket to hold them on the Tx.
Fabricated from old spare racer quad nuts and bolts, metal soldering iron stand cut up bent and drilled to suit, stick on carbon film to a plastic shaped backing plate  ~~

Delivered today  ~~
The boosters are 4w (not 5 as last post), I had to cut the plug off the power wires so I could run off a 3s lipos , bit of soldering and fitting to the mount and job done.
Had a quick test with the antennas supplied with the boosters, all seemed good with no loss of video reception. The only issue I can see is the picture on my phone is a bit laggy, I'll put that down to it being a really crapy android device (it's always done it).

I'll give the flat panel antennas a good go next time I get chance.
