First time FPV in my 600mm quad

Hey all. Today marked my first FPV flight ever, everything went really well so I';m feeling incredibly happy about the experience (been wanted to do this for more than a year). Unfortunately I haven';t yet got any on board footage as I only got one of those cheapy 808 key chain cameras which I couldn';t mount on my frame due to space restrictions, but I did have a couple of friends coming with me which filmed part of the flight.

Some points about this flight. There was only a slight breeze at the time, which didn';t effect my noobish first flight thankfully. Also if you watch the video in HD on full screen you';ll see that I accidentally launched the quad directly over a column of ants lol, so I';d like to apologize to the ant community for any casualties during take off. Also at one point I got advised to land by my spotters as some little children came running over to see the quad, from behind me so I couldn';t see where they were. We asked them nicely to move away so we could keep flying, safety first!

In total I got over anywhere between 10-12 mins of flight time on one 4000mAh lipo, which I thought was remarkable. Enough rambling, here';s my first FPV experience ever :D

It really was, I made sure everything was trimmed out before flying of course. I can';t explain how I felt when I first lifted off the ground while looking through my goggles. Part of me felt like I was still flying blind, like I wanted to quickly take off the goggles and take LOS control, that only lasted for a few seconds though.

I havent flown fpv yet but I can imagine that its strange when your used to los flying,
what flight controller you using on your quad  ~~

I';m still using my rabbit from my previous two multi rotors (large hexa and tiny quad), flashed with the latest firmwire and only using gyros and accelerometers. Don';t trust height lock on this thing. I';ll use this setup to practice a little for now, whatever I';ll be putting together next will probably have the naza board on it, but practice first :D

Gaza07

The trusty old Rabbit I still have my Rabbits and the height hold on the version with the new baro is very good I actually converted one of my old ones my self, Its in a thread here

That looks like a very good first flight.

If you can find yourself a larger field with fewer people for the second one - you';ll find it starts getting very easy to build up a bit of speed and height when you don';t have to worry about other people around you. Good job you had spotters!

One circlip short of a quadcopter.
1 lobe short of an antenna.

Will have to hunt around for a larger place. Or I could just go and pay a little fee and become a member in an RC plane club close by, they have part of an abandoned runway I could use. Have to check if they let me do FPV there first :)

It';s not my camera, it';s my mate';s Fujifilm something or rather. I had my canon with me, which takes videos at a much better quality level (especially the focusing part), but we didn';t use that :P Nevermind ground footage, I need to get myself a Gopro at some point!

just bought a black edition man. dont bother with any of the others. its ACE!
