Help Please! Openpilot Fail

Krrrrash!

I just received a Quanum Outlaw 270 for my son';s birthday. I have the luxury of 3 days without my family, so I was planning to set it up ready for him to open and fly on the day

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/quanum-outlaw-270-carbon-fiber-quadcopter-racer-set-arf.html?___store=en_us

I just opened the instructions and it requires a firmware update for Openpilot GCS. I followed the supplied link to software download URL. http://www.openpilot.org/new-release-15-02-02-bugfix-release. I';m expecting a software download (for my mac) and a firmware setup wizard

Uh-oh! There';s a single page site with an angry message on it. No software download. So, now I';m stuck. Can we fly this thing without updating the firmware? Hobbyking told me I could set it up with a mac, is that true? help!

Thanking you all in advance, Ben

I seem to remember OpenPilot was discontinued in 2015. I think it forked into LibrePilot. Not sure if that has a Mac version.
Why do you think you need to update the version?

Hopefully someone with more cc3d will reply soon.

Welcome.
I try :-)

Just noticed the HobbyKing page at the bottom says updates: http://www.librepilot.org

Seems like there is an OSX version here: https://librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/display/LPDOC/Downloads

Not sure if that is Ground Control Station or Firmware. There is documentation on left.

Hope that helps.
I try :-)

Sorry for more replies.
When you change from OpenPilot to LibrePilot you will loose all the settings. This might make things ';interesting';. I would make a note of all settings in OpenPilot not that they necesserilly are the same on LibrePilot but it might give you some useful info.

You might find the default PID settings in LibrePilot are OK but I have no experience of LibrePilot and only used OpenPilot for a week or so a few years ago.

If the quad is already setup on OpenPilot I would be tempted, if possible, to set up my receiver within OP and test (WITH PROPS OFF) and take it from there.

Good Luck and let us know how you get on.
I try :-)

Mr Finch

Librepilot is the GCS and works fine on the Mac.

I run my CC3D 250 with LP and it';s fine.  I haven';t done any tuning of my quad though, accepted the default PIDs.

It';s very similar to OP just a different name.
