Hello everyone.

I wondered if there are any manual that explains the PID parameters, for us newbies its hard to adjust the PIDs without really understanding the meaning of the parameters.   :blink

I use MissionPlanner and have a Crius AIOP with MegaPirateNG 2.8 V3

Some help in this matter would be nice  :help:

My best to you all..

For a brief introduction to the theory see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PID_controller .
It may seem a lot to get your head around, but it can help understand what is going wrong.
As it says, tuning a PID controller can be difficult and, in fact, the controller may not be
able to handle the full range of environmental factors and need quite different tunings for
different settings. (E.g. light, gusty winds or moderate, constant winds).
The Zeigler-Nichols method for tuning the parameters is probably the most reliable.
Start with the I and D gains set to 0. Increase P until you can see oscillations in whatever
the controller is trying to control, then back it off to about 1/2 that value, then increase the I
until the system *just* starts to oscillate again, maybe back it off a little bit, finally increase D until
the system responds to disturbances quickly enough for your taste. It is not unusual to leave I or D 0, especially I.

I will read this and try to understand the basics.

Thank you for your help.

I will write again if i run into trubble.
