Well I had my first ';proper'; flight today.

What do you all think - does everything look ok ?

I havent done anything with PID settings yet as I dont have a clue

I did notice that 1 motor doesnt start spinning until well after the other 3 - whats wrong there ?

The flight didnt last too long as I cant really control it properly yet.

I did manage to bring it down safely but it landed in the brush and all 4 props are gone  :-/

Hi nosmo it appears to be quite stable although its hard to tell as its not in front of the camera for long, you need to try and teach your self to hover in front of you before flying to far away and maybe hovering in different orientations, it did sound like one motor was pulsing but hard to tell for sure what flight controller and firmware are you running with,
all in all a very good initial test flight  ~~

I have an AIOP V1.1  with MultiWii 2.2

I do seem to have trouble getting airbourne without it shooting way up high all of a sudden. Need to have to rev it lots to get it off the ground then it just seems to go skyward - hence the bumpy landing in the second vid when I tried to throttle back a bit.

I will try what you say with hovering nearer the camera when I find a nice big flat grass field where I can try again - just wanted to get out while the wind was low today so chose (rather badly) a local place that you see in the videos.

If you listen carefully in the second vid you hear me say ';I don';t know what I';m doing'; lol

Haha. Quite scary to watch that mate. Little bit on the erratic side but the copter looks like its stable. Have you got an expo set up on your throttle perhaps? Could be why its difficult to control....

Hi nosmo your doing fine dont worry about it we all have to start some where and peoples first ever flight normaly end up needing repairs
Did you calibrate all your esc';s ?
If you look in the GUI check your throttle is at the correct setting move it up and down make sure centre stick is around 1500 and bottom 1000  ~~

I think I';d just echo Gaza07';s comments maybe to try and learn how to control it in a hover before getting too ambitious with your flights :)

nosmo

I calibrated the escs quite a few times - I read it is a once only thing...

And I will look in WiiGUI at the throttle calibration.

Amd yes the erraticness is my flying lol not the craft :)

The absence of foam on the baro wouldnt cause much problems would it - just realised I didnt put any on

It could quite easily cause a bit of a problem if it were breezy when you were flying,  best to put some on and give it another go.

Gaza07

The baro is only used when altitude hold or loiter is selected  ~~

How long did it take for your heart rate to return to normal nosmo? When it shot off over your head, even my butt cheeks tightened!!!  :blink  Once you get it calmed down a little, you';ll be fine mate  ~~

Quite true. 3 minutes into my first flight and I broke 3 props.  You';re doing well!

Throttle seems fine - bottom is 980, top is 2010, middle is 1500 - same as all the other controls

Same here. Reminds me of learning to fly helicopters and hitting idle up for the first time :frantic:

Yeah I have done that once or twice. You notice quite quickly when trying to go inverted

What tx do you have.... I was having that issue ... Then I learned about curves ... Just dialing in expo was no use coz mine was hovering about -30 on the throttle (0 being the half way point on the gimbal). So I made a 5 point custom curve ...
-100
-40
-30
-20
100

So now the stick is in the middle of its travel when hovering and it takes quite a lot of stick movement around that center for throttle changes to be noticeable but I still get the full throttle range.  When I work out how to video myself at the same time as flying I would love to get some feedback on my grass cutter :)

Have you got a gopro? I';ve bought a head strap for it you look a bit of a fool wearing it but can take video of whatever you';re looking at :)
