My son has a Meade ETX 90 Telescope with a motorised mount -

Unfortunately spares are getting very hard to find now and the main gearbox shattered inside the base - I searched for one everywhere and was finally pointed at this site by someone on a telescope forum http://shop.telescope-warehouse.com/ where the owner Bill Vorce was exceptionally helpful and was able to provide me with not one - but two complete gearboxes (one for spare) including the electric motor at only 15$ each - then with only 5$ of shipping he sent them from Arizona and they arrived in the UK in only 5 days ....

Brilliant service - highly recommend him if you ever need telescope bits  ;)

Anything I have ever wanted to buy from the US of A always has a massive shipping cost added on. Here';s an example:

http://www.hoverthings.com/parts/ht-fpv/450gearbk.html

A few bits of glass fiber in a jiffy and the shipping is more than the goods :hmm:

http://www.hoverthings.com/checkout/cart/

I think some traders in the States don';t want the business

I think that was the point I was making ... this guy was happy to supply at a reasonable cost and with reasonable shipping ... so DID want the business - and more importantly was keen to help me ... top bloke  :notworthy:

Not many people like him around in the US   and as for  the UK.....';nuff said.
NOTE:  UK..SOME  Royal Mail  charges have gone up 1st April..particularly larger parcels. :banghead:
Let's be careful out there.
SAFETY is.. NO accident.

I had to post a trainset from the shop to a customer not too long ago. Wasnt too heavy (about 3kg), and cost £11.25 to send it 1st class recorded. Bloody ridiculous. The last few items I';ve sold on ebay have ended up costing me money to send, due to people being put off by the genuine postage costs. I hate sending anything of any value, unrecorded. I';ve never had anyone say they haven';t got the goods, but theres always a first time. UK post is good, but it really is costly.
