Do I need to Upgrade ESC's ?

So i';m considering a set of Tiger Motor 2814-10 as au upgrade from the current TBS 750';s which are battle weary from the effects of crashes etc.

I';m currently running TBS 30A ESC';s with Simonk.

The 2814-10 motors canin theory pull more than 30A';s but when i stick my configuration into http://www.ecalc.ch/xcoptercalc.htm?ecalc&lang=en max amps only comes up as just under 19A

So do i need to upgrade the ESC';s or not as it';s makes the upgrade costs mount.

One option is to use the Tiger 2216 750 or 900kv motors as they stay well within my ESC';s range but if i up the weight much more they will start to struggle.

Any thoughts ?

Personally I would not bother.  The Tiger motor website give a max continuous of 29A for the MT2814-10 and my 3.5kg Hexa with these motors hovers at 30A total and (Naza limited) flat out climb is 45A total. I';m currently a bit over propped on APC 12x6';s. I';m going to drop back to 11x4.5.

That makes the decision a bit easier. Where did you buy your tigers ?

Now you know why we aren';t all using t-Motors, despite the quality.
One circlip short of a quadcopter.
1 lobe short of an antenna.

Is that price for 1 motor :o
It';s about the same as Axi or Hacker for a similar size; no big deal really, you have to think in terms of how much money';s worth of gear depends on them. Same thing with Planes really - I use cheap stuff on foamies but any expensive airframe gets Axi or Hacker motors and Jeti esc';s.

It is a big deal when for four of them you can build a complete quad :wack0

Yep but what';s the point in spending good money on a gopro3 or Nex5 only to have the picture quality slip due to vibration or more importantly have £380 of go pro or £500 + of nex heading to earth because a cheap bearing failed.

All depends what you are trying to do.

Quite happy to have £9.00 motors a cheap 300 for aerobatics or learning.

Yep horses for courses. Cheap kit for learning to fly and set up with an old camera.

Now starting to upgrade. Naza the other week, carbon props on order and if the piggy bank has enough in it some motors this week.
