My Flyduino Mega

Here are a few pics of my Flyduino set up I use multi wii or Megapirate on this, it has the fmp-04 gps and a allinone sensor board, apc220 for telemetry and sonar for low level height hold, it is all fitted to my old jakubs quad that I used to use for my KK board

That is some impressive looking gear there but when you refer to megapirate and I see on the gps it also says pirate gps, does this mean this gear is illegally copied or maybe the firmware? sorry if this seems a bit dumb but you hear of pirate music and movies and that is all illegal, I have seen it mentioned on other forums but never bothered to ask  :-X

The first time I saw this project MP (MegaPirate) I also wondered why would you call some thing pirate, It is just a name and no more than that although the MP  firmware is an altered copy of the Arducopter firmware there is nothing dodgy going on, The Arducopter firmware is released with source files under an open source licence which means anyone can take a copy alter it and basically do what they want with it as long as they also leave it open source there by sharing any alterations they may make to the original code, so not such a daft question after all,
The mega part of the name is taken from the chip used on the board the chip is an Atmega 1280 or 2560 the latter now being the one used as the code is to big for the smaller 1280,
so you get Mega as in the chip and Pirate as in copied firmware (legally)
