Gaza - can you make the subject line section in the forum topic list wider? It's cutting off the subject field really short.

Had another negative encounter, it's been a few years since the last one, just an uneducated ******, going on about drones being illegal yada yada yada.    :-/

Just had a thought, even with all the crashing I've done, I haven't bought any replacement props in over a year ~~

After a mishap with my new 450 clone quad I have ordered some new props.
It was fitted with 8x4.5';s and I have been trying to source some locally so at least I can see if it still flies, till my new carbon fibre ones come.
The closest I can get is 9x4.5.
Will these be ok to fit? Motors are HP2212 1000kv

I';m interested in this as well, mine came from Peter King fitted with 8 * 4.5';s whereas most people I see with 450';s are running 9 or 10".
They should be OK I would have thought as long as the esc';s have enough headroom - if they are 30A I would have thought they would be OK. Best way to fing out is to try running the bigger props with a Watt meter and see what the load was.
I think..........I think I am........therefore I am.............I think!

Those motors should be fine with 9 inch props.
One circlip short of a quadcopter.
1 lobe short of an antenna.

fruitsalad

you should be fine,
you getting them locally,or elite in ashford..
dont grow up,just buy bigger toys!!!!

Weston Model Centre in Teynham. I think Elite has ceased trading. In the end I managed to get some 8x4.5';s and they are fitted and the quad still flies brilliantly.
DarrellW, mine was from Peter too. I have ordered a set of the original props from Rctimer, I guess it was set up with those so I might as well keep it the same. It certainly is pretty agile with the 8" props on, thats how I had the "mishap".

i got some gemfan 9x4.7 from h/k if you near wincheap sometime and in need of props.
elite still running as far as i know,
not been there in a while get most things online its cheaper..

Upping the props will increase the amp draw off your flight pack too. So if you do up the prop size you will no doubt have to reduce your flight time.
Steve

Biffa

As an example of increased amp draw on my tricopter:

8*4 props

60%   throttle 12 amps 113 watts
100% throttle 25 amps 235 watts

10*4 props

60%   throttle 24 amps 254 watts
100% throttle 35 amps 341 watts

thats something i need to put on my shopping list is a watt meter

im running 10x4.7 on my quad on 20amp esc and the 1222 1000kv motors so prob maxing out the esc looking at your results it did come with 9x4.5 props

getting around 9 mins hovering time on a 3s 3000mh battery
But carrying alot of extra weight with fpv frame and gear

I figured I had better get one as I puffed all my Nano Techs, and clearly sticking 10*4 props on is why :banghead:

I knew they would pull more amps, just didn';t realise it would be almost twice as much lol plus all the FPV gear when it was a quad

Thats interesting Biffa, I never really thought abpout the extra current draw. I have 30a ESC';s on mine, I dont think I will be going over 9" props.
Fruitsalad, thanks for the offer, I';ve read good things about the Gemfans and I work in Wincheap quite a lot. If I get stuck......
