What's HW Patch in Open TX for Taranis X9D+?

I';ve been playing around with the Taranis'; tx menu and the mirror menu in Open TX, reading and writing model and settings files, and backing up the radio.  But when you write a file from Open TX the dialogue box  provides 4 check boxes, the bottom one being: ';Patch HW setting from profile';.  Anyone know what this means?  What does HW stand for?  I was guessing hardware?

After I';d selected it and written the file to the taranis it seemed to start up as if the transmitters internal memory had been wiped clean and it was immediately asking me to set up a new model.  I restored my backup file from Open TX to the taranis and everything was back and working again.

When I copy model files and radio settings I don';t select the  ';Patch HW setting from profile'; check box now, but I';d like to know what it means/does.   :hmm:

You know the big red button that has a label saying "Do NOT Press"??
