A very brief review of this inexpensive Y6 copter:
It';s a very nice setup for £80, a Y6, runs on 2S battery, has HD camera/FPV 5.8Ghz and is very stable.
It is very easy to fly and very stable, almost annoyingly so ::) It doesn';t have dual rates or any flip function so is purely for learning Camera / FPV, on the FPV side it is surprisingly good for such a cheap model, it has a range of about 80 metres before you start to get break up but hey it';s toy grade
Batteries last about 8 mins with FPV and recording functioning so not bad at all.
Would I recommend buying one? To true I would, if you want to try FPV (on a screen) for the first time - as I was it';s pretty damn good, it';s also a reasonable camera platform although you do get some jello.
It';s much better than the Hubsan x4 cam+ in that it has sound (the Hubsan doesn';t) and it produces better video - judge for yourself:
http://youtu.be/1xw5aKVUV2o

All said and done it';s a great model and well worth being in your hangar just for a bit of fun.
Oh and at about 4.20 theres a bit where I had a fit of the giggles because autoland took it right to the edge of the table I landed on and it fell off

LuMan

Looking good. The table landing is tricky enough without an autopilot getting in the way!!

Were you flying FPV all the way?

Is that where you live, or are you on holiday? Looks really nice. I';m ashamed to upload any footage from my Syma X11C because my back garden looks like it';s been home to a bunch of travellers for a few weeks... :embarrassed

Cool, I like the design of CX-33S.
Maybe I';ll buy one from cheerson.com as a gift for my friend.

I wasn';t flying fpv all of the way, that';s one of the things I like about the screen rather than goggles. For fpv the fov of the camera is a bit narrow.
My main reason for buying this was to see how I could cope with it before I rebuild my 450 with gimbal and camera for lining up video footage - I have to say it';s pretty easy for me to cope (Goggles made me feel  ).
The site was where I';ve got my bolt hole, it';s a 25 min drive from home and provides instant relaxation
It';s situated at Stourport on Severn and it';s by Lincomb lock.
Don';t be embarrassed to upload footage, I didn';t for quite a while down to my anxiety issues but doing it and opening up to the world has helped me no end.

Thats a  nice find Darrell - and now down to £53 (1st Aug 2016) at Banggood :o  What a daft price for something this kitted out...

Do you have any idea what it does if it flies out of range?

It auto lands same as if it runs out of battery power; good innit???
Be careful of buying it from BG, they don';t add any more protection than the supplied box does - I had mine from Hobbywow they do - costs more but in my opinion having had issues with BG packing well worth the extra.

nub

canny really go wrong at that price for what your getting and i';m sure with a few tweaks things could be improved at little though out the box it seems to do a rather good job, nice1 ::)

good to hear your enjoying the screen a little more than the goggles.

For the price it';s really great value and it';s a cheap way of finding out if you want to spend on something more expensive.
I';m rebuilding my 450 with APM mini and Neo7 gps and putting a Tarot 2 axis gimbal on with my SJ4000 camera mounted, probably going to get a dedicated fpv camera and all of the gear to go with it and use a screen for lining up footage.

Instant relaxation and enough lawn to fling a little UAV around, to boot! Lovely... I';m slightly envious ;)

Thanks for the confidence boost. The footage from my X11c is too poor to really be of any use. However, I';ve sorted additional power for my HJ816 Hex and it';s got a much better camera, so I';ll upload my first ';not in the back garden'; footage as soon as I unleash it at the flying field  ::)

I like the look of that!  Good find.   ~~  Looks like a cracking little flyer for a toy grade multi-rotor.

I';ve not seen a tri-copter/hex with adjacent blade mounts before.  Does it make for added stability?

Jazzz

Very nice spot .i also suffer bad angziaty but you might not believe it with the amount of videos I post
Nice vide quality for the price  ~~

It';s annoyingly stable but great for video and for me scratching an itch that I';ve had for a long while
A Y6 is about as stable a platform as you can get, I';m not sure about redundancy though - I think a conventional hex is possibly better but as I';ve said it';s amazing value!!!

LuMan

Re: Stability - I suppose that, if each individual motor is capable of a controlled descent - i.e. not so quick that anything breaks, then the remaining motors would maintain balance and allow for a softer ';crash down.'; Of course, if the motors are good enough to allow manoeuvrability, then you could, theoretically, fly home with a motor offline.

Ooh... just thought - if the UAV were capable of holding altitude with just 3 of its motors (one for each arm) working, then you could bring it in with 3 motors down!!  :hmm:

I think the only thing to do here, is for Darrell to remove 3 of the props and see if it still flies!!  :wack0

Er........ nope................ it';s new besides it wouldn';t steer without differential - that';s why a tricopter has a servo to give you yaw!

Looks like a lot fun for such a little price.  The more I look at this Y the more I';m tempted.

Besides when you buy from China it';s a bit like getting a pressie ';cos you don';t know when it';s going to turn up
Only advice I can give is use Hobbywow - it';s a bit more expensive but remember the problems I had with BG for the Hubsan 501 I ordered that arrived damaged - their packing is cr4p!!!

That is so true.  It';s great when the postman unexpectedly knocks the door with a present from China!  It feels a bit like Christmas when I was a kid.

Yeah, I do remember the hassle you had with the Hubsan.  That was bad form by Banggood.  Thanks, I';ll check it out at Hobbywow.

I did take a look at this and watched "quadcopter 101" review, as i am sort of tempted to get a small fpv flyer, i very nearly clicked buy on the XK252 but cant seem to find spare lipo`s for it, and to be honest still feel the Hubsan 501s will suit what i want it for
Volantex Ranger 1600/2000, Ranger 1200 G2, Phoenix S 1600 AR900 Miniskyhunter, ZOHD Dart 635 and a few 680 batwings plus old faithful C1 chaser and a lot of eagletree guardians

Slayer23

Everytime I have ordered anything from china I have forgotten I have ordered it before it arrives so when it does I stand there scratching my head for ten minutes before I open it to see if I can remember what I ordered last time it was bamboo seeds (don';t ask I just wanted to grow them) and the time before that it was a mobile phone case I won for 6p including postage how do they do it I mean a bowl of rice has to cost more than 6p surely
Mr,Mr, Can I have a go
please, please, please
oh did you want to hit that tree
shoulda let me have a go Mr I wouldn't have let it go that far I cant see it past 30m
bet you wish you had let me have a go no Mr
EH ??? Don't You ? Mr

guest325

Had another go today despite the windy conditions - it';s so funny to watch.....
A couple who were walking their dog were really interested in it asked all sorts of questions including hubby asking where you can get one from ::)
Anyway it was great under the trees, but not got to trusting fpv fully yet; bit comical when I hit the post - wind around the edges of the trees was stronger than I thought and couldn';t make it go away from the post!!!
I can testify the robustness of this delightful little toy - props are very soft and will bend back into flyable shape ::)
ENJOY ::) ::) ::)

You really won';t regret it, best £80 that I';ve spent in a long while - it';s so much fun!!!
I';m amazed at how good the video quality is - it really does make the Hubsan X4 cam plus look rubbish!!!

LuMan

I thought my Syma X11c had half-decent video, but it';s totally rubbish compared to the CX33S. I think it';s down to how stable the quad (or hex) is in the air. The X11c is so twitchy that the slightest adjustment looks like someone tipped the TV over!

The CX33S also looks big enough to withstand the outdoors a bit more, too. Would possibly be harder to lose at the flying field as well.

The dilemma is whether to wait until payday, or get drastic with the plastic....

I think I should add a comment to this; in the last video the people who appeared in it were warned to keep their eyes on where the model was going because the windy conditions may (and did) cause it to deviate from my chosen path.
I think that not to have done so would have been irresponsible!
Their interest in what I was doing was amazing and they did in fact take details from me where they could get the same model from (his Mrs was pleased she had a good idea for his not to far away birthday ::) ). The guy had never had anything to do with RC before but I think will definitely end up as one of us.

LuMan

Great news! Another convert. I hope that the chap in question flies as responsibly as you do

Also, as you engaged the spectators and advised them to keep an eye on the drone, they, effectively, were under the pilot';s control. So you covered all bases in my book.  ~~

I can';t find an emoticon for a gold star, unfortunately....

Another flight today, using the screen more but I';m finding the narrow field of view is a problem, it';s too easy to get too close to immovable objects!!!
All said and done it';s a great introduction to this type of flying and I can see myself investigating further ::)
Looks like more spending ::)
I am really glad I took this approach to finding out if it was for me or not because I actually really like this model and can thoroughly recommend it.

LuMan

I have been trying REALLY hard to resist getting one of these, but they do look bloody brilliant - particularly for the price. I was hoping the STOL-500 would keep me occupied, but the CX33S can be milled around the garden on these balmy evenings, without me having to drive to my nearest field.

As for the narrow field of view - could one of these (or something similar) be bolted on somewhere:

Well my CX-33S has arrived intact from BG USA warehouse, £30 plus £12 in handling and VAT not too bad I guess.

Looking forward to trying it out when I get the time...
