I think I`ve decided on my first quadcopter, and so for looking at these parts
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__25557__AQ_600_Carbon_Fiber_Quadcopter_Frame_550mm.html

A Crius All in one Pro Flight controller v2 with this gps unit :-

http://www.unmannedtechshop.co.uk/uav-components/gps-modules/ublox-neo-6m-gps-v2.html

Already got the esc`s  ( Hobbyking blues 30a ) , but not sure yet on motors whether to go for 28 or 35s and which ones of the page loads to pick.
I`ve already purchased a Turnigy D3536/8 1000k to test speed controllers , so may to go the easy route and just get 3 more of them.

To start with it`s going to be a plain old quadcopter , no FPY or camera , but want to leave my options open to fit a small compact camera later.

Any advice or things to consider before making this purchase ?

Thanks in advance Peter

Hi peter looks like your on the right track with your choices  ~~ where are you planning on buying your AIOP from ? I ask as you may be able to save a few quid by getting it from  china (Rctimer) who also do a very good range of motors , their 2830 1000kv motors or HP 2212s would be good on that frame  ~~

Welcome to the brave new world of the internet and getting your stuff from Chinese manufacturer direct.
It`s the first time I`ve every ordered anything from overseas ( Hobbyking ) and the murky world of "what`s the situation of with taxes of duty etc  ?"
So it looks like about 57 USD for the control board via a slow boat from china or 55 GBP with unmannedtechshop.

If I was buying a AIOP today and gps it would be from here

These motors are pretty good

With these prop adapters

or these motors

Its down to personal choice really and if you dont mind waiting, if you do buy from rctimer use the honk kong post and pay the extra couple of dollars for registered, it seems to be the best way not the quickest but better  ~~

You are more than likely to get held up and charged for customs if you pay for express shipping. You will have to be really unlucky to get a jiffy bag held up via registered post.

The only item I have ever been charged for was delivered via EMS (in 7 years). I';d rather wait a week or so and save money than have it in 5 days.

I`ve never ordered of rctimer before , I want to select hong kong post , registered ?

Gaza07

I have had lots of gear from rctimer and never had any problems, just pay the extra couple of dollars for registered shipping and don';t use any of the couriers   ~~

No problem I`ll order my bits in the morning , It looks like I can`t ask if you had any experience of the AIO pro board for it looks like you wrote the manual

Hi Peter and welcome to the forum. Looks like you';ve got lots of good advice from Gazza there. I have the RCTimer 1000Kv motors on my 450 and it flies really well. I have ordered loads from RcTimer and HobbyKing with no problems. In two years ordering I think only 1 item has been held up in customs. Good luck with the build. Thxx

As Gaza07 said, avoid couriers especially Parcel Force as I speak from experience :-S

o.k , My last stupid question of the day !!!

My quad says : 28~35 Size 700~1100KV Brushless motor x 4

is the 2212 , a 22 ? , Sorry for my ignorance if it the manufacturer`s way of making their own numbers for the thing.

Gaza07

I think the numbering is a little messed up as the hp2212 as far as i know are the same size as the 2830s
