Check in the arduino app that you have the correct board type selected  ~~

ok. ive finally got a version that works in the hex and talks to the gui. ive configured the switches for arm return to home etc,  but when trying out a takeoff it tries to flip over. when holding the skids with the throttle on it is pulling like mad in every direction possible. I took photos of the pid';s and wondered if anybody can see anything wrong that I could change. the hex is a tarot fy680. many thanks.

It sounds like you could have the wires mixed up double check which wire goes to which connection on the flight controller, als did you calibrate the ACC ?

Sorry to revive an old thread but I am very frustrated and don';t know who else to ask.  After many hours with MegaPirates on my Crius AIOP V2, I can';t stabilize the flight at all. The quad moves a lot while flying, seems to shudder once in a while for no reason, and is generally difficult to control.  I balanced the new props, and replaced the ESC';s after one of the originals caught fire during flight.  After all of this I decided maybe it was easier to install MultiWii to the quad and try that.

I tried to load the 2.2 version attached here but I kept getting errors with things not defined or scoped.  I then loaded a pretty generic version of 2.4, with CRIUS_AIO_PRO defined as the board type, and all the GPS turned off (mine isn';t attached right now). I was able to get that to compile and load to the quad, but now I can';t do anything else with it.  I ran multiwiiConf with the quad plugged in, and opened comm 3, which is what I used to load the software, but I can';t see anything on the quad - no movement in any of the values on the screen.  I tried to also load MultiwiiWin GUI, but that told me I should have had version 2.3 and I am running 2.4 (I couldn';t find a version of the GUI that said it would work for 2.4 anywhere).  At this point I am considering ditching the AIO board and getting something else since I can neither get this to fly properly or get another system loaded to it.  I only  have a choice of MW or MP and neither seem to be doing it for me.

I assume I am doing something wrong here, but its got me at my wits end.  Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

Before you try Multiwii have a look here:
It';s Peter Kings (Droneshop.biz) google drive with a really good setup for that FC; mine was on 2.9.1 add ons with his parameters and flew really well, but there are a few to try.

Just take your pick from the different versions.

Thanks Darrell, I will take a look at that.  At one point I think I did load one of his set ups but still had to tune it some.  I seem to keep running into issues and each one gets closer to being right but I never quite get there.

guest325

My 450 now has an APM mini instead of the Crius and is much better, again I';m using his setup unchanged - it works perfectly.

red zeppelin

so those setups he has will work on multiple FC';s?  I thought they were specific to the board.

guest325

If you look through his google drive it covers Crius AIOP, APM and Pixhawk - you just have to use the right one.

red zeppelin

I saw the ones you are talking about.  I had one of his before but definitely not those, so maybe this is the answer.  Couple of questions - when it says 2.9.1 with add ons, I assume that is the version of MP I need to install for those parameters to work?  Also, and I think I know the answer to this one, do I need to recalibrate everything once I load that?  ie gyro, radio, esc';s, etc.

guest325

2.9 add ons is the version that removes the code that';s not needed so it';s more stable - use whatever your using at the moment to flash it, if you download the parameters this gives you a stable setup to fine tune.

red zeppelin

Great, thanks for the info.  I am going to try to load it this afternoon so I will let you know when its up in the air!

red zeppelin

Well, that was my worst flight yet.  I flashed the copter to MP 3.1.5, then loaded Peter Kings 2.9 with add-ons for the CRIUS.  I turned off the pre-flight checks and recalibrated the radio and mag, nothing else.

Outside, armed the copter and the props spin slow, that was good.  Started to up the throttle and every time I did that it was listing to a side really bad.  To the point that it was impossible to take off.  I tried this several times, each time same result.  Finally I hit the throttle thinking that if I just got in the air I could correct for it but that didn';t work.  The quad flipped over, and broke off my GPS antenna.  Very frustrated with the process so far.  I was having fun until the flying part started, and its been so hard to get stable (or even in the air) that I am not having fun anymore.  Do you think I should try another version of Peter';s firmware';s or switch to Multiwii?  Or, last resort, switch to another flight controller altogether.  Ugh!

guest325

It looks to me like something is not right, if it were me I would be looking to updating the FC, maybe it getting a bit tired!
The best option for what you want really is a Pixhawk, it';s a big step but they are very good and well supported.

red zeppelin

I think that might be the direction I am heading Darrell.  Given that I have everything else, will there be any compatibility issues with other hardware?  I have a 450 flamewheel frame, ublox 6 gps module, a ubec wired in, and all the esc';s & motors.

Is this mostly replugging the connections and calibrating?

guest325

You should be ok but for the cost I would replace the gps for a neo7 or 8, they are much quicker getting sat lock from cold start.

red zeppelin

and is there a reason for the variation in the cost on them?  I have seen them as high as $150 and as low as $56.

I have one of these crius v1.1 aio are they any good ??
Mr,Mr, Can I have a go

Make sure you buy from a trusted source, there are some not so good ones about. For your location RCtimer are ok!

They are ok with the right firmware, 2.9 addons was about the best I used when I had that FC.

Might try it and if no good I will get rid lol
Look at post #64 for where to get the firmware and parameters from!

Slayer23

well installed the firmware and params managed to get it all hooked up in MP but as to wether i will use it that is a different matter has external compass and seperate gps receiver but will not allow me to calibrate compass unless i go into terminal it is not as nice as my APM think i will flog this and get another apm

No one said it would be easy and I doubt you will sell it, they are well past their sell by - but still useable if you';ve got the patience.

Slayer23

better still keep the compass GPS and osd and get a newer FC lol

So I have a new pixhawk FC waiting for me at home when I get back from work.  Do I need to load anything to that FC and if so how do I do that?  It seems like I can continue to use Mission Planner for setup, tuning, etc unless there is something better that is made for the pixhawk.  Any recommendations are welcome!

guest325

If you go through Painless 360';s series of videos  all should be good.
They can be a bit boring but well worth watching.

red zeppelin

Well, after a bit of work to detach and reattach everything to the frame, I am flying again as of last night!  Wonderful difference in flights from the AIOP to the Pixhawk.  Haven';t had much time at the controls but its a lot more stable.

I have a tiny bit of drift still, which I assume I will need to tend to via trim?

guest325

What direction is the drift and is it the same in all flight modes?
Are you using the internal compass or do you have an external one?
You don';t usually adjust for drift on your radio, it';s usually interference of some sort or other, another perhaps is have you adjusted magnetic declination?
http://youtu.be/UVMKn697ws4

red zeppelin

I did adjust declination, at least I am pretty certain I did, I remember seeing the inputs for it.  I am using a ublox 7 gps which I believe has the external compass also.  As for flight modes I have only tried it so far in stability.  It seems to move forward and to the left a bit when its drifting.

I will fly again and see if I can pick up a pattern on how it drifts.
