Had another negative encounter, it's been a few years since the last one, just an uneducated ******, going on about drones being illegal yada yada yada.    :-/
Still that didn't spoil my flying time, had an absolute blast  ~~

Dualsky Hornet and a DX8

Just put together my Dualsky Hornet. Apart from the very tight screws it was easypeezy. But those screws! Had to keep backing them off several times to get them to seat properly. Eventually ended up rubbing the threads on a bar of soap to help them cut their thread. They say you can build this in 30 minutes but took over 60 just on the screws! Never mind though, its ready for flight.

Before I commit to aviation just want to ask if anyone has flown one using a Speki DX8? The reason for asking is that the manual gives channel settings for various transmitter manufacturers, including Spektrum, which I have followed. What I did notice, however, is that I had to reverse the rate switch, which was opposite to the manual. Now, I have come across this before when changing the Tx on a fixed wing model. One channel had to be reversed even though they were both Speki transmitters. The long and the short of it is are the manual settings correct for the DX8? I suppose one answer is to fly it and find out. But being a newbie this could end in disaster. Maybe get the Mrs to hold on to it tight whilst I twiddle the sticks!

BTW, does anyone know where I can get coloured 9x4.7 props? Green and red/orange would be good for orientation purposes. Thanks!

I have a Dx8 and seem to remember they changed some stuff about when doing a firmware upgrade it was to bring it inline with the larger model and a 1 off thing but it caught a few people out with things going the opposite way cant remember all the details, always bets to hold it out at arms length and just see what it feels like it want to do  ~~

I love my DX8, but you don';t see many show pilots using Spektrum gear, apart  from the great Ali of course. Don';t know why really, I';ve never had a problem that I could put down to either a Tx or Rx fault. Crap flying yes, but brown-outs etc no.

I';ve told the Mrs she is chief ground crew on the quad, with a very important job. Hold on tight. She is not impressed.

She might panic and let go   :frantic: :frantic: :frantic:   ~~

The flyduino plastic coloured props seem to work pretty well on quadcopters up to about 1.2kg. I would want something a bit stronger for a heavier quad.

One circlip short of a quadcopter.
1 lobe short of an antenna.

Thanks for the heads-up on the props!
