How high?

Can anyone estimate how high I was flying? My 450 quad was the smallest spec I dared take it to so was wondering how much further the DX6i TX and orange RX could reach?
I have quite good eyesight (I can see as far as the moon at least :)

To give you a vague idea, worst I';ve had out of my Dx6i (although this was with an AR7000 with satellite rx) was 800m.  Best I';ve had was 1.2km.

Can';t vouch for Orange Rx I';m afraid :)

i wish i could get a altimeter that works i bought a usb one from hobbyking but could never get it to work there is a app on the iphone that i think works it out via gps but i need to test it
dji f550, still running standerd running gear, with auora 9 controller, 2 x 6000mah nano-tech, 1 x 8400mah nano-tech, 1 x 5000mah turnigy, carbon gimbal with Aeroxcraft landing gear, gopro 3 black edition camera, and to top it off LED's all round for night flying (has to be done)

How about something like this. Not real time but when you get back (if you get back  ::)) you can see how high you went. I';ve used other Eagle Tree stuff in the past with good results but not this particular item.

It';s pretty light and not too expensive, don';t know what it would end up costing in the UK though, seems getting stuff between these two countries can be more than expensive  :(

Cheers for the good info. I can map out 1Km on the ground but can';t get my head around a sub 1m speck in the sky. I';ve flown a few times at night (own fields away from roads) and can go way higher with the LEDs on.

That looks like a great gadget Jim, I can see me getting one real soon  :beer2:
Not sure if the Crius AIOP v2 has some kind of logging though ?

If you were using Hitec radio, you can buy the extra telemetry addons, one of which, is an altimeter. You can then get the readout on the tranny screen. To be honest though, I';ve owned the Aurora 9 from Hitec since the day it hit the shops, and at the time, the thought of telemetry seemed like a great idea. But now, hmmmm, it just doesn';t seem anything special. The one good thing that the basic hitec sets can do (and they come with it built in as standard), is that you can connect the flight lipo to the spc port on the rx, and the tranny will start bleeping when the lipo voltage gets to a predetermined level. I think the higher end Spektrum sets do the same, DX8 etc. The low voltage alarm connected to the rx battery on my fixed wing stuff has saved at least one of my planes before, so, probably paid for the price of the Aurora, on that one occurence alone.
