GPS?

Quick question. How many channels do you need to run GPS? Ive been using 5 channels at the moment. 4 to control it and one for self level. this was using a kk2 board. I';m now setting up the Crius AIOP V1.1 with V1 GPS

Balders

I would imagine 5 channels will still be enough, 4 for control, and the 5th (with possibly a bit of mixing) will select between different flight modes, be it GPS, atti or manual I guess.

This is how it works on Naza, I imagine it';s similar on Crius.

If your using Megapirate on the board then Balders is correct it is all switched from channel 5 and mixes from other switches  ~~ if you run multi wii you can actually use more aux channels  ~~

Ive loaded megapirate onto the board. I have the V1 u-blox gps. The green light comes on on it but in mission planner it says its not on. Any ideas?

Gaza07

Hi Vidal where did you get the copy of megapirate from ? I';m asking because if it was from the forum then it should already be setup correctly ~~
The CN-06 V1 is quite a basic Gps so it has to do a can take a while to get a fix and, if your trying indoors it may never get one or take quite a bit longer, you can tell in mission planner if your gps has been detected but not got a fix, while looking at the main planner page the section below the HUD has tabs on one of those tabs it should say status, if you look in there you will find the gps status if your status is 0 then your gps is not being seen and will not work if the status is 1 then the gps is working but has not yet got a fix, once you have a full 3d fix the status will be 3, I hope this helps  ~~

Cheers. Ill try that. I downloaded jumpy07 version as I followed a tutorial on YouTube. If I cant get that to work ill un-install it and download the one on this website.

Gaza07

I';m not sure which firmware Craigs guide points you to if you check the status as above it will tell you if you have it set right  ~~

Hey. I upload your version. Still saying 0. Took it outside as well.
The green light came on on the gps. And stays on all the time. Any ideas

neagron

Hi,wait till gary comes on,not sure if you have to swap the tx rx  leads round on the plug,Marty. :scotland:

Gaza07

The green light is just for power so that should be on all the time, it has to be connected with rx to tx and tx to rx so if you have connected them rx to rx and tx to tx you need to swap them around  ~~

Think that is what I have done gaza. Thanks for that. Will swap them I over.

Also how do you use megapirate?  I cant seem to find where the PI settings are like what I use on the kk2 board. Is there a video tutorial for it?

At the moment when it will arm but not disarm. And when I out a tiny amount of throttle it seens to go about 60% power and then flips.

Gaza07

Hi Vidal is your copter a quad ?

Hey. Yeah its a 450 clone frim rctimer. X config not plus

Gaza07

Its not the frame config causing you probs then, have you calibtated the radio in the mission planner and set the level, and calibrated your esc';s ?

Vidal

Ive calibrated the esc using the tx. Cant seem to work out to level it or hiw to usemission planner

Gaza07

Hi Viadl here s the procedure to set the accelerometer level this must be done or it will cause what your seeing

1. Connect to your AIOP with mission planner
2. Click the terminal button this will enter CLI mode (commandline interface)
3. Type setup at the prompt and hit return the prompt should then say setup
4. Make sure your copter is sat very level
5. Type level at the prompt and hit return this should set your accelerometer to level

re test your copter you may also want to do a board erase and reset to clear out any left of settings from the previous firmware  ~~
YouTube   printing-3d  Thingiverse  3d-printworx

Vidal

Thanks. Have done that. But it now flips to the right. However I have just changed the pi settings to obe I saw online. So thats prob why its flipping. Dont suppose you have a screen shot of your PI settings do you. Then I csn tweek from there

Gaza07

I';m not currently running megapirate so cant take a screen shot, but most of the time when i do upload megapirate to my board I normally have to lower the rate P on ailerons and elevator to stop the wobbles,
you can do a erase and reset which will reset all settings back to the factory default for your firmware, and remove any old settings that maybe affecting it, if you do want to do a erase reset do it like below

1. Connect to your AIOP with mission planner
2. Click the terminal button this will enter CLI mode (commandline interface)
3. Type setup at the prompt and hit return the prompt should then say setup
4. Type earase and hit return it should say erasing wait untill it finishes
5. Type reset and hit return answer Y to the reset factory defaults question
6. you then have to unplug / remove any power from the board for it to reset

you will then be back to the default settings the reason for doing this is because the old firmware settings can get retained and can affect the new firmware I have seen this happen and others have had the same it is always worth doing this on each upgrade  ~~
