Hi Guys,

With the night drawing in, I have decided to start a little project to build a small airplane for indoor/outdoor flight. Im going to use the first port for a parts list just encase anyone else is interested and I will reserve the second post for a build log

receiver servo ESC board that uses the FlySky protocol (Need to bind everytime at poer on)
http://www.banggood.com/WLtoys-F929-F939-12-Receiving-Board-Spare-Part-p-930768.html

Im using a Taranis, so I have ordered the following JR module
http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-Flysky-FS-GT3-Telemetry-Module-FS-RM002-For-2_4G-9CH-FS-TH9X-Transmitter-p-66598.html

Propeller with gears
http://www.banggood.com/WLtoys-F929-F939-RC-Airplane-Spare-Part-Motor-Base-with-Propeller-022-p-947009.html

Motor with cog fitted
http://www.banggood.com/WLtoys-F929-F939-13-Motor-with-Gear-Spare-Part-p-930767.html

I';m planning on using 3mm depron for the frame with 1mm carbon rods to reinforce the foam where needed.

I have built a flying wing before, but nothing else plane related, so any advice is welcome.

After doing a number of Micro types, after stripping some Actuall Spektrum ones down, then using the parts to make one, personally i would now go with a small Brushless motor instead, if you look around, there are some great little motors.

also, i would use 2mm depron over 3mm, 3mm was just a little to much, still, does depend a little on your wing loading, But the ones with 2mm were fine.

I am planning on building something larger with a brushless motor as I have spare 1806 2280kv motors, the plan with this plane is a small slow flyer so my 5 year old can learn using it.

I';ve looked at smaller brushless motors but havn';t found any reasonably price mini ESC';s other than ones that are over kill for a small plane.

Yes, If a slowflyer , especially if mainly indoors, definatetly go for 2mm Depron :)

Or you could also do a build similar to this :) https://www.elitemodelsonline.co.uk/Products/Aircraft/Aircraft-Spares/Electric-Aircraft-Spares/eRC-Plane-Spares/Micro-Stik

If you';re really interested in micro models here is one of the best places I know:

There is everything you need to build a really nice model there, I';ve built a Puddlebug and had great fun with it!

Cheers Darrell, this is more of a budget build to see how I get on. I do like the look of some of the part they sell on there though  ::)

They are really nicely made and fit together very well, the hardest part is covering them until you get the hang of it!

had 4 items from there for two indoor planes, very good delivery time iirc, was sometime ago now, but the bits are still going strong :)

Well, finally received all the parts in January, and only just had time to get it built.

Now just for the maiden flight [emoji1]

looks quite fragile, hope the maiden goes well.

Point and click.

That';s cute, looks a bit like a PZ Vapour Biplane ::) ::) ::)
Hope you';re flying it indoors, anything more than a gnats f4rt outdoors and you would loose it!

Paul01

Thanks for the kind comments.

Yeah its pretty fragile, it';s solely indented an indoor flyer for my 5 year old son to learn to fly/fix
