VTX Antenna mounting.

Does anyone have their VTX antenna positioned so that it protrudes beneath? instead of on top. What effect if any would this have on the signal?. Thanks.

Mines at the rear of the hex on a retract unit, so once airbourne I can deploy it to point downwards, seems to work great

pointing down should be good, as long as its vertical and not mounted horizontal then it should work well.

Mine is pointed down on my 450. I changed from upward recently and the video reception improved. I had to fit taller landing gear.

Ive just fitted some Tarot Retractable landing gear so i have the room to have it hanging, i quite like the idea of having the Antenna retractable aswell.

I';m also using Tarot retracts, I';ve just added an aircraft gear door sequencer, so when I put the legs up, after a few seconds the aerial retract extends, then on the legs down command, the aerial retracts and a few seconds later the legs come down

What Radio TX are you using? im using the Taranis plus with EZUHF module and diversity RX. Would your setup be easy enough for my Radio? i have my retracts on CH 8 on a rotary switch.

I';m using a Futaba T9ZAP WC2 with a Frsky 2.4 module, the gear is on ch8 (2 pos switch) the retracts are connected direct to the Rx I tried to get it to work through the FC (APM 2.6 clone) but it was easier to hook the signal wire direct to the Rx, the power/ground comes direct from one of the ESC';s
