Just building my 450 quad with Crius AIOP V1.1. With GPS. Where do I put the ubec. Do I just solder it to the PDB then plug it into the Rx? But as I';m using GPS do I need to solder it to the top left hand corner of the FC? Or do I need two ubec

Gaza07

Hi Vidal I soldered pins in to my extended port and connected the Ubec to the power distribution board  ~~
remember always remove the jumper when powering through the extended port  ~~

Cheers. Where do I plug the other end of the ubec into

Gaza07

Solder the input side of the Ubec to your power distribution board that is built into the frame   ~~

The output has a servo lead on it with 3 cables. Do I cut the end of that off and solder the red and black to the FC. What about the 3rd white cable?

Gaza07

I soldered a couple of pins into my flight controller and used the plug, you cant cut the white wire off it does nothing, you take the plug off and solder the wires to the board if you prefer just double check the polarity before connecting   ~~
I cut my white wire off and  used a sharp knife to cut the plug down so it was just a 2 way plug

question in regards to ubec also
is it better to run a separate power ubec to board than use the  escs one( i have the quattro esc ) and jumper
i power my gps and mimin osd using the I2c  power and neg

In the case of 4 separate esc';s I would say yes as the one powering the board gets warm and has more load than the other 3 and also it doesnt power the serial ports, but in the case of the quattro its slightly different as it only has the one bec built in and is separate from any of the esc';s, so I would leave it as it is  ~~

Sorry guys but I';m a bit confused with this!

Each ESC has BEC enabled. From the past when I';ve used twin motors on a model, I have had to take out one of the pins (negative I think) to the RX otherwise the RX will blow as it would be powered by 2 supplies.

Do I need to do the same when connecting the ESC';s to the control board?
Also, If I am running a separate UBEC, should I not remove the negative from all of the ESC';s?
Next question, if I am using a UBEC, then do I just remove the jumper at 43 and connect to the yellow + & - on the board?

Ok, yet another thing that';s confusing me is how the RX leads connect to the board as there aren';t enough pins!

Many thanks.

Hi Jim all the bec';s from the esc';s connect to the flight controller a lot of people take out all but one of the red power wires from the servo leads but if you don';t it will not blow anything up or release any magic smoke,
I you intend to use a separate Ubec you connect it as shown in the image above  ~~
I always use a separate Ubec because it allows the board to boot up before powering the esc';s and it is normally a cleaner supply hope this helps don';t hesitate to ask if you need any more info  ~~  :beer2:
