On my daily perusal of our favourite Chinese outlet, Banggood, I came across this intriguing little beauty and wondered if anyone had any experience with it?

It works! :D but the power from the becs is very noisy and as such needs a filter if you want to power a vtx (I might just have a duff one?) but for the price what more do you need :D

This was my experience.  The 5v was fine for powering the FC, however the 12v was completely unusable for video due to noise. I couldn';t even see a picture over the static!

sandav

I only use the 5V side so don';t know about the 12V side (even took the 12V print off).
I ordered several of them and use them for all my builds, even swapped some old home made pdb';s with this one.
Because of the 30x30 holes, they';re really easy to fit on existing builds from my zmr250 to my trusted quadx340 frame.

Never had any problem with them and as stated above, for this price, what else do you need. Almost cheaper than most standalone pdb';s without bec.

I';m a little confused. I thought the purpose of a BEC was to provide suitable clean power for things like that?

The purpose of a BEC is to supply power, how clean that supply is is highly variable.

There';s some ESCs that I wouldn';t trust the 5 volts from either

I have this. Works really great!  I';ve not had issues with the 12v noise.  But I haven';t actually taken it out and flown it yet. What';s the smallest power filter you can get?

I';d say the smallest LC filter is the one from readytoflyquads - I';ve a few left on sale here --> http://www.multi-rotor.co.uk/index.php?action=classifieds;sa=view;id=356    My own use of these has proven bulletproof, solving mains noise that I couldn';t eradicate by other home-build filters.

I can also recommend the HobbyWing 3A UBEC - its a blinding little device that puts out very clean 5V power --> http://www.banggood.com/Hobbywing-5V-or-6V-3A-Switch-Mode-Ultimate-BEC-(UBEC)-p-908018.html?currency=GBP&createTmp=1&utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_content=saul&utm_campaign=rc-quad-uk&gclid=Cj0KEQjwgeuuBRCiwpD0hP3Cg4kBEiQAHflm1kxYjjNvimGqf-slP5rbijC-E5bny74KcyTVwYUiNyYaAqox8P8HAQ

The latter, available for a few quid more on EBay if you';re in a rush.

Danny, I am using one on my 250. I can say it works very well for me so far.  ~~

Thanks hands on.  I will get one from you.  Not in a rush since I set one of my dys 20a on fire :(.

Do you have to provide more than 5v then it filters and switches down? Just asking as the on board bec currently provides 4.99v

(I';m pretty noob at all this!)

The only time I experienced static on the video was when I abused the lipo. Had to land it and quick and do the walk of shame before I did anything more detrimental.

The LC filters that I have on the Classifieds will filter any voltage up to 16V (so it should handle a 4S LiPo source).  What it does is to filter out any EMI spikes in the power wires to the Camera and VTX.  These are what cause the black lines or other interference to the video signal you receive.    These are not Voltage Regulators or BECs that reduce the primary battery voltage down to 5V which you would use for flight controller and/or RX or other items that only want 5V power.

hope this helps.

OK great so I will use this for my camera and vtx both of which take 12v after it has been stepped down to 12v by the bec on my cc3d distribution board.  :)

These work a treat for powering VTX , I use 390uh in line on the +ve
