To Ratchet or not To Ratchet? That is the question

Thought it may be interesting to see how many prefer a ratchet throttle or not.

I love that throttle ratchet goodness

I like it smooth like a smooth thing

I didn't even consider changing it till now :-)

I use a ratchet at the mo, but as I';m having difficulty maintaining a set height even with the PID settings altered.  My concern is that I';ll be moving the throttle up and down as I yaw left and right.  Oh well

I like it for fixed wing and even more so because I fly mode 1, just feels right!

I fly planks, helis and multi';s and have just got used to no ratchet for everything.

I think with models that are reliant on a given stick position for altitude you can find that the position the ratchet stops the throttle or pitch may not be ideal to maintain a given height.

You could try adding a little expo if you find yourself moving the throttle when yawing, that may be more beneficial than using the ratchet.

I ditched the ratchet years ago it never sits in the right position when hovering and is just a pain in the throttle   ~~

Its the first thing I do when I get a new transmitter, remove the ratchet.
Not found a way to get rid of it totally on the aurora 9 but managed to get it a lot less than when it was new.
