You shouldnt need the config file for your Ublox GPS if running megapirateNG because the firmware when set to ublox sends the setup commands to the GPS on startup  ~~

Unless some thing has changed that is

I';ll still need to change the baud rate from 9600 though before it will communicate? or can i test with both set to 9600?

I cheated a bit and used one of Peter King';s hex files rather than compiling one myself, Peters firmware is on 2.91, the download still on 2.83. However Peters build may be configured for NMEA GPS??

I can always try compiling a build myself then test to see if that';s the case....

I would bet Peters pre compiled firmwares are also set to ublox the commnds that arer sent to the gps also set the speed  ~~

Searched as best I can and gotten nowhere, so am posting for help.

I can';t seem to get my GPS to talk to my FC board. I';m running a crius v2 with a CN-06 v2 gps, with aluminum plate between GPS and the ESC. TX goes to RX, using serial S2, power from s1-s3 port, wired as shown in several guides.
ublox is selected in arduino config file, using default 38400 speed on s2.

With the GPS plugged in  the board does not flash the green C led, and Flight Planner shows "No GPS". Unplugging the gps, it will flash the green led and shows "no fix" in flight planner. The GPS will get a fix outdoors and talk to u-center just fine.

I';ve tried:
-Ublox OEM configuration, 3DR_ublox.txt, and the config file listed in this thread. All will talk via FTDI cable to u-center but not to the FC. Taken all the combos outside also, no good.

-Reversing the TX/RX pairs

-Tried the board powered by flight battery rather than USB cable

-reloaded MegaPirate sketch

-updated to newer Flight Planner

Does the board need to be armed to get lock?
Are there any common failure components on the V2 FC I should be looking at?

Tony Campbell

Not sure whats causing your issue, but I can say that, no, it doesn';t need to be armed to get a gps signal. Does the gps show activity when used with the  Ucentre?

Gaza07

The CN-06 v2 when used with megapirate should be left with its default config and not the 3dr config, because the firmware sets up the gps when it boots,
Have you looked in the status tab in mission planner what number does it give for the gps status ?

Status 0 = No gps found
Status 1 = Gps found but no fix
Status 2 = Gps with 2d fix
Status 3 = Gps with 3d fix

So if your getting status 1 your gps is being detected but doesnt have a fix it can some times take a while  ~~

I have absolutely the same config as you (AIOP v2 + CN-06 v2) connected just as you described. Was working right away, but started to work much better after CN-06v2.0_(NEO-6M_u-blox_6)_APM+MPNG_config.txt update. Even though I chipped off the battery from gps I still get solid 3D fix under 1 minute.
I would check connectors first. It might also be faulty hardware - either FC or GPS.

Hi,

just a question. Is there a new version of the document or is the document from the first page still the valid one.

thanks

Lars

Thanks for a very helpful guide!
One way to make it even better would be to add a chapter on CRIUS AIOP IO addon board. By supplementing the guide with this information , then the card fantastic opportunities further demonstrated.
More potential buyers get up interest for the card and hopefully it can be further developed.
As you have seen , there are now plenty of information on the subject in another thread here on the forum . I have currently for the poor knowledge of the subject but would be one of the first to try to follow the instructions in the hopefully new chapter.
Perhaps this chapter contain a nice descriptive picture as the one on page 10 of the existing guide and perhaps an accompanying text that describes what should be done and why.
In fact, the information would affect large parts of the text that is in the guide today if you intend to add an addon board.

Hello.

Is it possible to monitor Vbat with the Crius board and make a LED flash or a buzzer beep when it reaches a certain threshold. If yes, where can I find documentation of how to do it. If there is pin that can be used to monitor Vbat and a Pin to drive a PWM signal, it should be easy.

 I am trying to load MPNG on my Crius and as per Jumpy';s Guide my first compile came up with the error: ';AP I16'; does not have a type. The line of code reads: AP_Int16 format version;
This is in the Arduino Parameters.h file. Any ideas?

Edit: It';s actually giving me errors on all parameters.

Does anybody have any idea how to get the camera stabilization to work? I just want tilt stabilization. I have an AIOP V2 running MPNG 3.0.1 r4 powered from the Afro 30 ESC';s with the latest MP. I have tried all the settings in MP, powering the servo from a UBEC plus everything else I could think of and cannot for the life of me get it to work. Please help as I am stymied:( BTW it is a servo operated gimbal.

cdaleguy

I have been following through these awesome instructions and was getting towards the end of the setup. I have just struck something that has stopped me dead in my tracks.

I was going through the steps in the APM2_Quad_Setup3 pdf and things were good until step C number 8. At this point I did a Install Firmware. Since this point I have not been able to successfully connect.

Have I managed to install the APM firmware over the MegaPirate Firmware. Would this be the cause of the connection problem?

Thanks.

JerryCampbell

Hi,
You cannot load firmware on the Crius boards with the Mission Planner. That';s for the APM and Pixhawk boards only. There is a Flashtool for the Crius boards that works great. I don';t remember where I downloaded it.
Good Luck

regarding the flash tool here it is: https://github.com/MegaPirateNG/FlashTool/releases/tag/1.0rc2
i used the arduino 1.0.5 tool to flash mpng 3.0.1r4, there is an issue with compiling the code after you change something in the code,  so i found a solution that says "copy the pde.jar found  in mpng git to arduino/lib folder (overwrite with the one found there)
open arduino tool, select ArduPilot->HAL board->MegaPirateNG. restart arduino tool

now to my issue: (managers if this worth a new thread please let me know)
after flashing the fw i cant arm the crius, (i`m getting a failsafe message in mission planner)
how can i disable the failsafe option?

Oakie

which fail safe are you getting? Does say?

there is the initial fail safe set up in the first time setup.

They are all accessable in the config/tuning tab.

Paul

Hi, cover me in honey and throw me on an ant hill, I';m a noob and for a first post i';m screaming help....

I bought a board identical to the above board (image borrowed from up the thread) as a v1... it came with some unknown firmware on it, but appeared to work as when on usb if i tilted it the leds flashed.

I decided in my infinite wisdom as someone who plays with arduinos that re-flashing this to a known firmware would be easy as installing chocolate into me...

So I downloaded everything, the re-downloaded the arduino ide to get an earlier version... then flashed it....

result, no compass, no barometer, maybe no gyros it didnt worry me with an error for that but...

if i add the #define CONFIG_BARO AP_BARO_MS5611_I2C  as i found on another site to APMconfig it goes rather odd and throws pages of errors...

I ran i2c spy and get this, so the chipset must be ok..

Start new scan
Detected device addr: 0x1E HMC5883/43 (compass)
Detected device addr: 0x68 ITG3200 (gyro), MPU6050 (gyro+accel)
Detected device addr: 0x77 MS5611 (baro)
=================================

Bit at a loss now, I had a working board with unknown firmware now i have a known firmware and an unworking board. I should get points for that.....

Johnc

I am new to this but just sorted a problem with my Crius pro v2 board by logging into mission planner, click on terminal, click connect, it should now show you what you are running on the chip. Then type setup press enter, then type erase , press enter, the chip should now be clean, i.e. nothing on it.
I then used Pirates flash tool to put the version 3 programme onto the chip & it all worked O.K. after a few tweeks using mission planner my Hex is flying again.
Hope this helps,
John
This is just a suggestion after watching Peter Kings videos.
