I can';t take any credit for this, but after much head scratching and getting no where I eventually found out how to set up a mix to use the 3 position switch and the rudder DR switch on a Spektrum DX7 enabling all the six flight modes to be used.

I hope this is of use to someone else ~~

  • Switch on your remote while pressing SCROLL DOWN and SELECT
  • Go to D/R Switch Sel menu with the SCROLL UP/DOWN button
  • Select Com Rudd by pressing the INCREASE button
  • Go to the Input Select menu with the SCROLL UP/DOWN button
  • Press select until you reach Flap and make sure it is set to System
  • Press SELECT
  • Set Flap Trim to Inh by pressing the INCREASE button
  • Switch off the remote
  • Switch on the remote
  • Press SCROLL DOWN and SELECT to access the programming mode
  • Go to Mix1 with the SCROLL UP/DOWN button
  • Go into the menu of Mix1 by pressing the INCREASE button
  • Select Flap by pressing the INCREASE button
  • Press SELECT to jump to the second position and select Flap by pressing the INCREASE button
  • Press SELECT
  • Set rate to +100% and -50% with the INCREASE/DECREASE button (you';ll have to put the FLAP switch in the N position for the first value and into the 2 position to set the second value)
  • Press SELECT
  • Set SW to Mix by pressing the INCREASE button
  • Press SELECT
  • Set offset to 10 by pressing the INCREASE button
  • Go to Flap Sys menu with the SCROLL UP/DOWN button
  • Set Flap Norm = UP to 46% with the SCROLL UP/DOWN button
  • Press twice SELECT
  • Set Flap Mid = DN to 8% with the SCROLL UP/DOWN button
  • Press twice SELECT
  • Set Flap Land = DN to 100% with the SCROLL UP/DOWN button
  • Press twice SELECT
  • Set Auto Land to Inh with the SCROLL UP/DOWN button

I have tried this too, but don';t you have flight mode 4 twice when you have finished this setup?
dynam hawksky, Ripmax MX2 v3, Stm FW190, F16profile EDF, HK parkjet, ASK21, bixler 2, blade MQX, quad SM450v2 multiwii, spider quad apm, wltoys v272

It worked correctly for me first time I tried. Did you start with a fresh/reset memory slot?
Steve

Yes, but after I flip rudder DR switch, i have a another flight mode 4. So I can only switch between 5 modes. Maybe if I run the steps again it will work.

My DX7 is the Heli version so there is no "Flap" switch labled as such, the "Gear" switch is where the "Flap" should be. Will this method work by say changing "Flap" to "Gear"etc.
[attach=1] The items in Red are the Heli Version.

Biffa

Hi Rammylad,

My DX7 is the same heli version as yours. All the DX7';s are the same apart from how the switches are labeled. The switches are the same and in the same places so it makes no difference ~~

Sorry about dragging this thread up again but I';ve just setup my 450 bitza on my new (old) dx7 and I';m not sure about what the switch positions do - went flying it yesterday in normal mode no problem but before I try flicking t the switches it would be nice to know what to expect to happen!
As you might gather I';m a bit of a beginner with programming modes!

fruitsalad

use heli mode and use the pitch curves to get the different modes..
what controller are you using..
dont grow up,just buy bigger toys!!!!

I';m on a Crius aiop v1.1 running mp 2.9 v3 addons - I';ve set it all up as above and it';s ok in manual mode but I don';t want to try the other switch positions until I know what to expect.

fruitsalad

blimey not used a crius for ages, had multiwii on one about a yr ago..
not much to suggest really..
turn props upside down and test the switches see if they do right modes..least it wont fly off on ya..
or brave it and go for it..change of underwear on the ready....

What it will do depends on what you have programmed it to do.

Set it up as your original post, nothing else.

What have you assigned the switch to do in MP?

Not done anything, my original setup is Peter Kings config file for dx6i, so presumably I need a config file for dx7 then.

In Mission Planer there';s a section where you can assign any of the modes to the switch positions http://code.google.com/p/arducopter/wiki/AC2_ModeSwitch that was all I used once I had set up my TX.
