  • Reman: Got stuck in traffic yesterday. After an hour I started using my phone (And an OTG cable) to look through the media files on a keyring of my old USB sticks. Found one that had the entire run of "Firefly" on it. I got through 3 episodes before the traffic started moving again....... God, That really was an amazing show.

  • hoverfly: I coated a couple of Slipstreams  a few years ago  It stiffened up the wing nicely .On the down side although it prevented dings when i had an high speed"arrival" it left the resin cracked. and the glass lifted slightly.  Well stuck laminate stiffens the wing and is flexible..

  • DarkButterfly: I'm doing laminate, just put my order in for some, also got some balsa wood for the side parts, had to use a kitchen knife to seperate the foam from the busted wood

2mm 200x300 pure carbon board

erm.....not sure what I';m gonna use it for, think I just bought it on whim

Just be careful with the dust when cutting it as carbon dust isn';t good for you, best to keep it wet.

Sorry if I';m teaching you to suck eggs.

but to your credit I did learn the hard way, about 3yrs ago I spent a good three weeks hacking my lungs up after cutting CF board in a small badly filtered room. :embarrassed

erm.....not sure what I';m gonna use it for, think I just bought it on whim

Glad to hear that I';m not the only one who does this. :)
I';ve got a couple of 3mm sheets here that I bought on the off chance they';ll come in handy at some point. I';m currently contemplating using one of them to make some 50mm motor mount extension plates for my hex (To get it up to 550mm). That way I could fit the folding props I have without having to trim a little over half an inch off each blade.

Anyway, Today brought some more stuff.
I receved a metric f**kload of heatshrink in various colours and diameters. I keep running out, So decided to go for overkill this time.

I';ve got another set of the Racerstar 2403 motors too. Again, not sure what I';ll put these ones on, But I';ve got a couple of my early build 6" quads that really could do with motor upgrades.

And finally I received another handful of folding prop setups like the ones I';ve got on the camera hex (PostNL really outdid themselves this time. Only 19 days from dispatch at Hobbyking HK to arriving here in the UK..... Or a little over 13 mph all the way !?!?! :) ). These are for my DIY Y6 build...... Well, They will be if I ever get around to actually thinking up and making some alloy frame plates for it.
I need a pay rise........ Though I'd settle for a reduction in the amount of hours I need to work to get the same money.

Thanks Jazzz but I now do not use bull nose with any number of blades as from my experimenting they give more noise. sometimes contribute to vibration,  and offer little or no advantage.  I have also on TWO occasions had supply of these where some were not moulded correctly as well.  One two blade pack had two props that were 2mm shorter, thicker, and more rounded one side!!

Those actually came via HobbyRC, and when sent pics of the packs involved said they';d never ever seen any so bad and checked all their stock, but of course they were not going to open packs that looked OK and so poor balance was probably still possible...... not a lot else they could do so not badmouthing them.

What do you think of the goggles?

Bad Raven just asked about this too :)
Here was my reply:

I';ve got to be honest, I';ve only taken it on a couple of flights, but I am really loving it. Previously I was using Fatshark predator V2s.
The Fatsharks are of course more compact and lighter, so in that respect they are more comfortable, but I find the style of the new ones (with the single view port) much more comfortable on the whole.

Weight wise it does sit a bit on the bridge of the nose, but I think with more effort on my part in adjusting the straps that could be reduced. Either way, overall, it';s still very light.

Image quality and receiver performance is superb, even with the antenna that come with it which seem to be of a fairly good quality (one enclosed clover leaf, and one patch).

It';s worth noting that whilst the screen is 1080, you can only get that resolution via the HDMI in. Otherwise it will display WVGA. Even so, the clairty, brightness and colours on the screen are fantastic, and it is of course wide screen, which for me is a massive bonus.

So I personally would recommend them.

It';s just protective casings making them easy to remove without just yanking on the wires. They can be removed.

In a moment of delusion I decided to build a small camera a/c to "compliment" the Mavic & Phantom for areas where they are not "suitable".  I';m not looking for speed just a decent flight time and a stable platform. So  the dji propulsion set looked favourite, I thought about an  A2  f/c but it would have the same firmware as the others, so I went for the Vector as I have both the Micro and standard on fixed wing and their performance is excellent.
Now all I have to do is nail it all together.
