This week I got some SMA pigtails to replace the board mounted SMA plugs on some of my VTX's, Some random quad arms to cut down and use as motor mounts for the Y6 project, A couple packs of some seriously funky looking 3" props to try (They go by the name of "iFlight Nazgul T3061" and almost look melted !!!).......




..... And an office style bluetooth headset to use in the van since it seems I'm now getting too deaf to hear anyone over the van noise when I'm using the more usual little headsets.

A VBox XTi-3442!
Basically it is a network dual tuner freeview box. You plug in a usb hard drive or connect to a network attached storage box and plug in your aerial and network cable.
It then scans freeview and via a computer, tablet, phone, smart tv, amazon fire stick, RPi, Kodi box etc you can view freeview, set/record programs and watch recordings.

It is a big geeky hence me posting it here :)

It is not user friendly to setup, like you have to find and upload channel logos for the guide. I enables me to have a central recorder and watch recordings on what ever device I choose.

Sorry it's not quad related but not bought any bits for quite a while

I gave up on PVC insulated wire ages ago. Once you start using silicone insulated wires it's hard to put up with the annoyance of PVC again. :)

seen a few people piping on about how their getting ridiculous range out their wifi using it and wanted to see just how high a pile of CowTurd they were spewing.

It roughly tripled my range, I could get out the house and across the road (about 15m) before my standard routers wifi became unusable, with the extender I can roughly get to the end of the street (about 50m/ 150(odd)ft) so 3X improvement.

thats with the extender right next to the router (for a fair comparison)... might see how far I can pick up wifi tomorrow if I plug the extender into a powerbank, walk it as far away from router as it can go without loosing signal, then putting it down and walking further with my phone till that looses connection to the extender, should be interesting to see just how far I can push it.

was using cheapo motors before, these emax with the dals should perform nicely for some freestyle

Few days late posting this, been too busy, but last week the postman brought me my first Fatsharks, Dominator V3, and (temporary) HB5808 diversity receiver. Currently most-affordable via Hobbyking's UK warehouse (even less now with their "starter kit" offer,  around £230, grrr!)

Then the postie brought me the Eachine Pro58 from banggood - now loaded up with Achilles v2 firmware. Very happy! Now to try that OSD mod...

Got it from 3DXR.  They were the cheapest I could see at £150.  Cheaper than BangGood even.
I had a query about shipping and my email was answered within 2 minutes.
But the best bit,  2 minutes after ordering online I get an email to say it it being wrapped up for shipping and the guy was throwing in a free micro SD card as they don't include one for the sounds!   I was on Amazon at the time eyeing up a basic SD card.  Saved me the trouble.
Top service.  Shame they don't do much in the way of race quads or I'd be a regular.  :)

Now,  how do I work this damn thing.......
My 2 channel RC car controller didn't have all these buttons!

Nice ebbo. Did it come with the case for that price?
Just had an hour on sim, it is really helping my stick control. Using Freerider Recharged on i3 laptop and it works fine. Not on max graphics but next one down and it works great. Probably could do with going to max now I am progressing as sometimes branches are drawn just as I am about to hit them  ::)
Recharged is now on Steam as well as itch.io for same price I think (about £10).
For me the recharged is better than the original one as there is more terrain so more opportunity to learn height control. First version is all about gates at set height but Recharged also has more hilly terrain with different height and different width arches to fly through.
Actually starting to enjoy learning acro, no acrobatics yet just flying round

I've got the free rider demo,  seems to work OK.  Mines an old i5 laptop (3rd or 4th Gen) , with an old 1gb graphics card.   Was planning on working through the Joshua Bardwell series on acro.  Seem a decent set of Vids.

I collected a HUUUUGGGEEEE plain cardboard box today, and inside it was another HHHHHUUUUUGGGEEE printed cardboard box.

Dynam Gloster Meteor - Fus is one piece with the wing out to beyond the two jet pods. And even then the Fus has had to have tail section removed.



Got to order batteries for it as despite a BIG selection, needless to say, nothing suitable!

Now to the funny story, the first batch arrived with something missing, two "somethings" to be precise.

Apparently the factory had packed and sent off the PnP UK batch, and as they were clearing rubbish from the area ready for the next model, someone found a box containing all the ESCs................ and since these are 80A, and of course a matched two of per plane, not the sort of thing most will have in the spares to substitute till they undo their error!!

As I wasn't building for a while anyway and our soggy patch will need lots of TLC to be usable (with five to maiden fly already and two to build), its faintly amusing  , but if you were busting your gut........................

i had the same issue with my amazon prime, item came a day late so i complained to them and they gave me an extra months sub for free

when i got my note 8 local depot (parcelforce i think it was) didnt deliver my phone on the day so i drove to the depot that evening and spoke to the manager and got her to turn the depot upside down to find it, she said the item was put in the wrong basket, then one of the guys at the desk hinted to me that a particular member of staff does this quite often, im guessing he steals high value small items like phones and the company has to pay out when its "lost"

Gogs are standard v3 doms, The Camo was  only bought as it was in stock .I had looked at the carbon one  but as its only dip and not a carbon shell the colour isn't really relevant.

Thought I'd treat myself and splashed out a  massive £20 on a RD290 hex from AliExpress.

Ordered 27 turned up 9 days later , tracked delivery from china to leaving customs in Uk then parcel force 48Hr

Quite amazed really, have had a few orders from AliExpress with the same delivery time, in fact I'm still waiting for orders from Banggood an gearbest the were ordered weeks before the one that was just received.

got a couple tattu 4s 1550mah 75C lipo
my quad doesn't pull much amps so didn't go for the r-lines

decided to move over to Frsky from Flysky for better range so bought a R-XSR receiver, i knew these things were small but bloody hell. never seen a sbus rx in the flesh, it is tiny compared to the massive 9ch flysky pwm receiver that im using, should make the build much neater
just need to figure out how to connect this thing to my SPF3 FC
